  Note the signature of engraver Alphonse Kolb on the obverse at Gen. Meade's left shoulder. Kolb was an internationally renowned engraver from Rochester, New York who practiced his artisan skill as a long time employee of Bastian Brothers medal makers in Rochester. He is buried along with both of his wives at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, which is in the National Registry of Historic Landmarks.
