52 Topps Mantle?

How much can I expect to pay on a nicely centered PSA 2 52 Topps Mantle? The corners could be rough and some other minor flaws, but my main focus is the centering. Does anybody have one available?

$5500 up to $7000 if it is a really nice looking 2 with faint creases, less rough corners, and nice centering.
  • Shoot! Looks like one just ended on ebay tonight. Does that price seem a little high?

Here is one that PreWarCardCollector auctioned off:
PSA 2 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle - PreWarCardCollector

Here is one that mysteriously ended while active with many days left, my guess is someone struck a deal away from ebay:
PSA 2.5 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle

It's hard enough to come by a reasonably priced '52 mantle BIN, let alone one that is centered nicely.
If one is for auction it'll be competitive.

$5000 - $7000 sounds about right for the PSA 2 range.

What did it end at? I forgot to put a watch on it. PSA 2 right?

Late on the note. Some one was reading my mind.

I don't think it was high for $6400, it was what I expected if you compare VCP historical data.

  • I agree, $6400 seems like a good investment for the look of that card.
  • I actually like the straight 2 better than the 2.5. That 2 has awesome centering.
  • Imo I would go with psa 1's with beautiful registration centering and nice front appearance . With a tad of paperloss on back. This is my choice when it comes to Mantle 51 bowman or the 52 topps..

  • Actually now that I look at the BIN prices on ebay and see the card that ended tonight, $6400 was a steal! How did that go for so cheap?

By the way the same PSA 2 last sold in January for $6700.

  • That was a quick flip. Why are people flipping these so quickly with the chance of taking a loss? Wonder why the value of this card has decreased?

    one less bidder.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • There is a PSA 3 52 Topps Mantle listed right now on the bay. In looking at the PSA 2 that just recently ended, which one would you pick?
  • MBMiller25MBMiller25 Posts: 6,056 ✭✭
there are actually multiple Mantles, I think you mean this one though.

    Mantle PSA 3

    Other Mantle PSA 3

I would take the PSA 2 that closed earlier in the week over both of these. Not even close in my book.
  • Yes, that is exactly the one I am talking about. I wonder if it will go higher than the 2?

    Eye Appeal
    Shop around
Look for a PSA-1 or 2 with a pinhole or slight back damage. It will look better compared to the other 1's and 2's

If you think about it, these Mantle were the most loved and displayed, they were tacked to the wall or bulletin board, or were glued or taped into scrapbooks.
  • You think you can find a 1 or 2 with that being the only problem?
