Michael Jordan auto.....Real?

what say you?

It belongs to a friend of mine. It's on some sort of insert from the Tribune that has a series of photos of Jordan smoking that shot over Craig Ehlo. The insert is a thin white cardboard type thing that is not in the best of shape.

His aunt obtained the auto.

What's it worth as is?

Thanks..

  • A wild guess assuming it is real 150-350. JMHO
  • At first glance, the auto doesn't look much like a normal Jordan auto, but there are parts of it that are similar. That's the problem with autographs. The only one who knows for sure is the person who either obtained it or created it.

As to value; as is, without any certification from someone like PSA/DNA, you would probably get $20-$50 on ebay. Don't ask me why someone would pay that though.

    Goose,

Go to http://www.rareair23.com and poke around. There are a lot of early Jordan sigs there. The guy that runs that site knows his stuff on Jordan. Shoot him an email with a scan and he'll give you an opinion you can trust. Be sure and tell him what the photo is, that will help him determine if the signature style fits with the age of the piece.

If you don't get it authenticated by JSA or PSA, or unless they are already UDA, then Jordan and Tiger are two of those guys that's hard to sell unless it's at a giveaway price due to the large numbers of fraudulent Jordans and Woods. The problem is, neither JSA or PSA will give a good price break on authenticating Jordan signed photos, so you'd be looking at an additional expense of $130 or so once you factor in shipping to from PSA or JSA.

However, would be a cool piece to own if it's authentic.

looks like it could be a rushed real Jordan sig if he signed it in person quickly. Wow - PSA wants $130 just to look at a Jordan auto!!!!

after looking at the rareair23 site everything looks good but it looks like Jordan always has put a loop in the "d" in his last name.

    Yep,

$100 authentication fee, $16.95 for return shipping, and the cost to send it to them. Probably closer to $125.00 as it can probably be shipped to them for $8.00 or so with insurance. I think JSA is around the same price as well.

You'd think it would be fairly easy for the good Jordan authenticator to spot a fake - $100 seems very high for a sig that has lots of examples out there.

I think the price is so high because of the amount of good fakes out there. PSA has to refund you if they authenticate a fake.

It's not exactly how I think of a Jordan sig, but it looks like his flow.

  • I WOULD ask myself, if it's fake, why would they not use a better item to sign on ?
looks like its signed on something that was handy at the time
