"The Day the Music Died" 2/3 in Hand!

Today I got a very sweet item in the mail, 1958 Coral Records Promo card of The Crickets, complete with signatures, including the great Buddy Holly. That gives me a Holly to add the the Ritchie Valens signed Promo photo (was used to include Valens picture on Music Surveys (Music Charts). I also have a original music sheet from the Don McLean song American Pie that Gregg (EchoCanyon) sent me. The Holly has a full PSA/DNA LOA...

Buddy Holly--A true Legend. IMHO he would have made it a little more difficult for the Beatles to become so popular so fast. I am not saying that they would never have achieved greatness, but their early stuff had a lot in common with Buddy Holly's music with the repetitive chords and two minute songs.

    Congrats on you find.

    Congratulations!

I have to confess - for years I did not know that the "American Pie" was the plane they crashed in - it was the movie La Bamba that brought it center stage.

A friend, in a band I was in around 1990, gave me a book on little known facts about singers and songs - I also didn't know that the "Garden Party" by Rick Nelson was about him being dissed at Madison Square "Gardens" back in the 70s.

Thanx for sharing - that's an area I would be proud to get into - especially music from the 50s - the 'pioneers' of rock'n roll.

A lot of people don't know that waylon Jennings was sdupposed to be on that plane as well but missed the flight for some reason. If he were on that flight we never would of had that great Dukes of Hazzard song.
