Off topic - need help with flight connection through NY
I'm planning a trip to Barcelona and I have two choices - either from Wichita to Newark and then JFK to Barcelona or Wichita to LaGuardia and JFK to Barcelona. Would it be easier to connect from Newark or LaGuardia to JFK? I assume we'll have to take a shuttle from either Newark/LaGuardia to JFK??? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice. Would we take a shuttle from LaGuardia to JFK? If so, how long of a trip is it?

Can't help with shuttle info, but cabs are readily available.
<< <i>Depends on time of day/traffic as to how long. Give or take 20 minutes, or if things are bad much longer.

Are you hellbent on going JFK-BCN? There are tons of other options that would mean an extra connection either in the US or in Europe, but would mean that you don't have to deal with getting your bags, getting on a shuttle, and going from one busy airport to another? Plus you can go w/o having to worry about JFK delays. I don't know how much the flight you're looking at costs or if there would be a big difference in adding an extra leg, but it might wash out when you consider less hassle. Example, Wichita-Barcelona thru Memphis and Amsterdam?

Greg,
Is it just you or the whole family? What about ORD i think they have flight to Barcelona or is it Madrid. If its just you could look into those multiple stop flights but I hate them. As long as the stops on on this side of the Atlantic its easier. They are much harder after you have just sat through 7-8 hours of flight time and time change to have to sit in an airport and look forward to more time on an airplane. If its the family, i would stick to the less number of flights. I am not in the same boat with you with the little kids. I on the other hand generally are dealing with my 80+ yo in-laws, with one that has some issues getting in and out of chairs and needs either a wheelchair or tram to get around the airport. Then less transfers is better. But even better is finding smaller airports to go through. Leaving isnt bad its the return thats landings and customs stuff that can be the pain. Though I have to admit that having them along sometimes gets us to the front of the customs lines.
Now you are realizing one of the bad things about leaving the Chicago area. It is nice that we have direct flights to nearly everywhere.

NYC can be a life changing experience!
One of the downsides of living in a smaller city is there are few direct flights...
I really appreciate everyone's input.... I wish that we could stay in NYC for a few days (I've never been there before), however that will have to be the basis of a future trip.
