3 more players added to my 400 batting average collection

I have now started to try to obtain a baseball card of all 28 players that have had a batting average of 400 or higher in a single season. I just got my E121 series 120 Ty Cobb PSA 3.5. Harry Heilmann E220 PSA 3. George Sisler E121 series 80 SGC 30. To go with my collection of other 400 hitters. Has anyone ever tried to complete this? I'm not sure if all of the 20 players to accomplish this even have cards.

I think there are less than 28 players, some of them hit .400+ more than once.

Based on the above list, looks like you have only 20 to go after:

    Bill Terry
    Billy Hamilton
    Ed Delahanty
    Fred Dunlap
    George Sisler
    Harry Heilmann
    Hugh Duffy
    Hughie Jennings
    Jesse Burkett
    Nap Lajoie
    Pete Browning
    Rogers Hornsby
    Ross Barnes
    Sam Thompson
    Shoeless Joe Jackson
    Ted Williams
    Tip O'Neill
    Tuck Turner
    Ty Cobb

Looks like it may be a little difficult finding a card of Ross Barnes

I dont think there is a card of Ross Barnes and Tuck Turner...

The Burkett will be the toughest, its on every Hall of Famer Collector Want List.

The 1921 D383 Koester Bread card of Burkett is a toughy, it looks just like the E121, but will have a blank back, they (Yankees and Giants) were issued in sheets only during the World Series that year.

Or you can always make on offer on that well known restored Just So card of Burkett.

Actually, I believe George Turner is the same as Tuck Turner, and he's on 1887 Old Judge.

I also have Keeler in a t206, Hornsby in a E121 series 80 and W502, Terry in a W502, Jennings in a E121 series 80 and several Ted Williams. So, I have a start. I know some of the cards could get spendy. But, I am not in a hurry. I like having different types of cards to look at.

BTW, PSA shows a pop count of 1887 Old Judge George Turner at 2.

SGC has 4 of the 1887 Old Judge George Turner.

For Ross Barnes, SGC shows Pop:

    1 - 1872 CDV (Boston Red Sox)
    1 - 1872 Warren Studios
    1 - 1876 Armstrong Studio Cabinet

Good luck getting one of those!

Cool, so there is some "cards" of Barnes and Turner. Good research.

The Warren Cabinets are in the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, there is 3 sets that have Barnes. These cabinet photo "cards" dont have the players name on them, the only way to tell the player is to compare them to other photos of the player, so its not always 100% perfect.

Missed that Minor League N172 Turner, overlooked it since it is a few years before he played in Majors. It counts even though he doesnt have a Major League card.

I believe and Frank probably can confirm or refute this but the Bill Terry W502 actually pictures Zeb Terry who of course never batted .400.

Yes, I believe the W502 is one of the Terrys that really show Zeb Terry
