Which Stephen Strasburg?

I was just wondering, which Stephen Strasburg card does everyone think is the most desirable one to own Is it the 2010 Bowman Chrome refractor? # to 777?

  • Chrome is King. Refractors are highly desirable. But if you can afford it, I'd get a Auto. His 1st Bowman auto.

  • Right now his best cards are from 2008 and 2009 Upper Deck USA sets. He will have lots of good cards this year, a refractor #'d to 777 doesn't sound real desirable.

His Chrome refractors and 1st Bowman autos beat the USA stuff any day. Not until he has a Chrome refractor/auto will anything sell better. That won't happen until Draft, but will still probably outsell his current Bowman stuff.

I agree completely. As a chrome guy, I would wait for Draft to come out and it should have a Bowman Chrome Autograph in it. That will be his best card.

Bowman comes out with 3 sets

The first of the year is called Bowman (and comes with some Chrome cards).

Next it will release Bowman Chrome (which now that I think of it should have a Bowman Chrome Autograph of Strasburg)

Then it's last set of the year is the Bowman Chrome Draft Picks which has both regular Bowman cards and Chrome cards in each pack and has all of the draft picks from the year (so if they can sign him it will have (or should have) a Bryce Harper Chrome Autograph in it.

    Hope that helps

Thanks, so you are saying there is probably a chrome auto of Strasburg out already? Thanks.

No it isn't out yet. I am just saying that once 2010 Bowman Chrome hits the shelves later this year it will more than likely have a Chrome autograph of him. If so, that will be the card to own.

As of today, the best card of his to get is his 2010 Bowman Autograph card (found in the recently released 2010 Bowman). Now again, that is his best as of today. Once the above mentioned Bowman Chrome hits IT will be the card to have.

  • Have heard rumors that Topps won't issue Chrome this year? Sounds strange, but why would they put Bowman Chrome superfractor's in Bowman packs? They are supposed to be 1/1. image

No BC this year, No way. Loaded CL of prospects. Would be the dumbest move since they rented a barge. Unsure what you mean about the Superfractors. Bowman, Draft and Chrome. Different sets, different pics, all 1/1.

On a completely unrelated side note-

And to whomever tipped off the guy who was short selling, thanks, his frustrated sounding emails made it more comical.

SS will only appear in chrome if he hits the majors. If it does you can expect the Bowman auto to crash down to earth. Right now it reigns as the biggy.

Strasburg can be in Chrome even if he doesn't reach the majors. They can add him to their prospect set in the chrome.

Are any of you the loony ones paying $50 for a base refractor for this kid? I know he has the stuff to be great, but $50 for a base refractor? Geezus....

50 bucks is cheap. I opened 5 boxes of jumbo at 125 a box and only got 3 base chrome SS's. 50 bucks might get you 4 packs of jumbo bowman and practically
no shot at a SS chrome not to mention the rarer refractor. If you want to see stupid, see what Harper blue refractors are going for!

That's not what I'm getting at. Buying boxes or whatever for an inflated price is one thing if you're searching for a gold, red or whatever refractor/auto that can be turned for a profit. But bidding $50 for just the refractor for someone that hasn't thrown a pitch in the majors is stupid.
  • Don't have the link but there is a Bowman Chrome superfractor on Ebay for $20,000 or best offer. This card isn't even autographed! It is Chrome and #'d 1/1, thats what makes it confusing?!
  • Unsure what your confused about. Bowman has 2 Chrome cards in every pack. Chrome, once released has all Chrome. And Draft has 2 Chrome IIRC. They are all different sets, with different pictures.

for a 1/1 card you'd think the centering would be better.

I bet SS and/or his agent are high bidders in this auction...stir up the hype, "SS's rookie is already selling for XXthousands of dollars." Remonds me of the crazy beckett sheet cut record breaking prices...personally I think someone on the inside buys those cards too as advertising for beckett. We never landed on the moon either.

So, for someone that doesn't buy into the 1/1 super-chrome-refractor-auto BS, which Strasburg card (that's reasonably obtainable) was the first one to show him in a Major League uniform, or at least reference the Nationals?
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

but it will not be printed until sometime in 2014 due to issues with the printing company, and when they are finally printed. Most if not all will have some sort of defect(OC, dots, etc!)
