Anyone else affected by the Nashville flooding??

I just read one thread about (Chris) going through the flooding in Nashville this week. Scary stuff! Anyone else close to that action?

I was affected somewhat when a card I won in an auction just yesterday (5/5) -- a 1962 Topps Mantle PSA 7 -- was lost in a car in the flood. The poor guy had several cards from other auctions in his car, too. Here's his email I just got today:

"Mike. Thanks for your payment on the Mickey Mantle card. I have a very bizarre scenario here. I live in Nashville and my car was totally submerged in the flood. My cards for this weeks auctions were in that car. I was able to cancel 5 of my auctions but not yours along with 4 others. My condo was evacuated and I have been in a state of strange confusion for the last couple days. I really apologize for the inconvenience. I will reimburse you the $464 . Let me know if you're all right with this. Again, my apologies. Thanks, DT"

Hope no lives are in jeopardy!

yes, the company I work for was affected. We have been on generator power since Tuesday and are finally planning to cut over to building power tomorrow. It has been a wild ride in NashVegas. image

    Thanks,

This is a sad storyimage I wonder if the Psa slabs protected the cards from Water Damage.. Anyone put high end graded cards in the Ultra pro protectors?? I know Bgs and Bvg holders can survive a flood for sure because the inert flips inside... The best protection i think for cards are plastic bins and stacked.

Have you heard back from the seller? I hope the dude and his family are safe!!!

I live about 2 hrs from Nashville in the western part of Kentucky. My wife and I, twelve years ago, had our honey moon at the Opryland Hotel. I heard that in some instances, the hotel was under 10 ft of water. My uncle sent me the picture below. It is the Opryland Hotel.

Not far from there is the Opry Mills Mall. It is totally flooded. There is a restaurant in that mall called the Rain Forest Cafe. It was really neat for kids. I was set up like a jungle and had robotic animals and real aquariums in it. I heard that they had 2 piranhas in an aquarium and since the aquariums were submerged, the piranhas got out and are swimming around in the mall. No joke.

Ryan, I was wondering this same thing! I probably have a slabbed PSA card I could use as a guinea pig.

I haven't heard back. I did get a refund for the auction the next day. I can't imagine trying to determine what the most important things I wanted to save from the oncoming flood would be, putting them in my car, and then seeing the card disappear under the water after you'd loaded it up with your valuables. I'm going to send him another email to follow up on his situation...

Shane, thanks for the links. I've heard that some of the musicians are contributing some big bucks to help with the recovery...

Okay, now I'm wondering if this story is true. I just noticed a positive feedback on this seller for a card that sold on the same day as mine -- which I got a refund for because the cards were lost in the Nashville flooding.

Here is a link to my auction win: 1962 Topps Mantle

Here is a link to an auction which ended the same day: 1961 Topps Brooks Robinson

I wonder if he didn't like the price the Mantle went for?? I hope I'm wrong...
