I'm going to take a guess and say that you suck at choosing which service to use. You have some expensive cards in there. Which service did you use?

If you post some clear scans and note what your expectations were, I'm sure there are several folks on the board who could shed some light.

Question - Is the results and expectations of this sub different from previous subs of this vintage?
  • Mickey71Mickey71 Posts: 4,261 ✭✭✭✭
$35 per card. Holy crap, you do suck at choosing services. I thought you were going to say you used the like $5 per card special and I was going to say for a few you should have used the $14 per card special for $500 cards. You paid alot of money for this.

Some of these are still very nice cards. You have a few cards that are valuable in any grade.

At $35 per card we're talking like submitting NM 52 Bowman Mantles, NM 56 Topps Mantles 48 Leaf Dimaggios etc.===PSA was glad to accept $35 per card.
  • I did a double check - no I did a regular submission on this.

I did the Express on only one card - the 1954 Dan-Dee Mantle card which came back a PSA 5.

    Sorry for the confusion.

  • You only suck at submissions if you were expecting the grades to be 1 or 2 grades higher then you got. Otherwise you're just like the rest of us off by .5-1. Try sucking at subbing $5-$10 cards that you lose money on. Been there and done that.

The closest thing you can do to deleting the thread is to edit your posts. You can edit your title when you edit your first post.

Don't worry about it. Don't delete the thread.

Very few people here can honestly post that they've had great subs, sub after sub. I received about 10 psa 6's on some 1985 Donruss. Those 10 grades confirmed a potential hard-to-detect flaw I noticed before the sub was sent, but since I haven't subbed any 85's didn't know how these would be treated. Now I know......

Treat this as a learning experience. Post those cards.

It's really no big deal if you didn't pay that much money for the submission, and I think you said yourself you only submitted one card at Express level. Now the cards will be nicely protected and holdered in the slab, and it'll look nice too. I collect pre-war cards, and I'm planning on even slabbing commons at Poor level. It makes it easy to go through the collection, and sell when needed. (Of course, I don't recommend you do this if all you're planning on doing is sell the cards b/c you'll lose $$$$ that way.)

    Dale

Unless you were expecting 7's and 8's I can't see how you sucked at that sub. I mean surely you know a

VG card when you see it. lastly those 50's HOF's sell better graded than raw.

    Good for you.

You don't suck, the cards are what they are. I'm assuming this is your first leap into subbing raw cards. Just consider it a lesson in grading. It happened to most of us on the first sub or two.
The best pitch to start a hitter off with is always strike one.

  • Don't beat yourself up Dale. Lesson learned on your opinion and what PSA decides. Next time you'll have a better idea on how a card will grade and you can save some money on not submitting lower grade cards. Lower graded HOFers cards should sell just fine if you go that route. For sure now you will know what a 4 looks like before you decide to send it in, right? Good luck.

That's a great group of HOFers
Tons of collectors looking for those cards in that grade range
    Nothing wrong with that sub
