Nolan Ryan ....his strikeout record will never be broken

Of all the records, in all of the sports - he holds the one that never will be , absolutely can not be ;

broken.

I would like to buy a hi-grade card of his , but I do not like his rookie card .

What is the the most important card of his that is not his rookie card ?

    Because of the condition sensitivity(Black borders) and centering problems with most of the set, the 1971 is probably the next most important card of his. The mid-late 70s cards of his are really tough in Gem as are the 80 and 81. Depends on what you prefer!!! image

    I'm a huge fan of his 69 card. I also do not like his RC so I opted for his first"full figure" card. Conversely, his all-time base on balls record will never be broken either. MJ

    I concur with the 1971. A classic tough set to find in pristine condition. Ryan in a classic action shot with the stadium background. A winner all the way. By far my favorite Nolan Ryan card ever.

    Uh......Cy Young's 511 career wins record is more bulletproof than the Ryan Express strikeout record.

    ryan's 7 no-hitters will be hard 2 break also.
    This could be a whole new thread....unbreakable records...
    such as ripkens iron horse record -will never be broken with all the medical sitouts and resting of your franchise player.

    I have all his regular topps issues...go with the amazing 1969 mets card. significant year. nice individual pose....
    maybe a strikeouts RB card.

    Yeah, 511 wins will be just as unbreakable. Especially with the current 5 man rotations.

    Someone may come along and take out the 7 no hitters record.... one day.

    As shown above, the 80 Topps is an awesome looking card for Ryan. It however fails to be an "important" card in the Ryan collector's market. If you want a card that other people consider "important", go for the 68 or the 69. If you want one hard to find in great condition, go for the 71. If you want a Ryan card that you like, pick which one you like and buy it. Like i said, the 80 is my favorite in that category.

    Pick a Ryan with the team you like the most. I'd be hard pressed not to just go ahead an buy the Ryan/Ventura combo card.

    That or the '70 Ryan is my favorite early Ryan.
