Nap Lajoie - Memorabilia

As I said in an earlier post, my friend has some Nap Lajoie memorabilia. Please take a look and let me know how you think I should proceed, if at all.

Thanks,

Dale

Are you looking to buy or sell it? Or asking for info?

I looked real fast, the best items are the autograph, and the photo of Lajoie as manager of Toronto (far left) with others doing WWI drill in BB uniform, 1917.

Whats up with the ball? History?

PS try to keep all the items together if you are looking to sell.

  • Looking to sell.

Apparently, this woman's dead husband (1985) was a doctor and collected Lajoie items.

She was having some body work done on her car when this Ken and her got into a conversation about Lajoie and that his kids collected baseball cards.

She told him what her husband had and gave him the autograph, postcard, picture, clipping and baseball.

I have no idea if anyone can tell the age and/or if this is a 1900's or 1910's baseball.

  • Dale,

I am not a baseball autograph guy, but is the Lajoie autograph authentic? To me, it looks more like the handwriting of the lady that gave your friend the memorabilia than Lajoie's, but I could be wrong. Here is are a couple links to Lajoie autographs. The "L"s seem different and the connection between the "j" and "o" are not in the ones in the link. Again, I am not a baseball guy so my conclusion could be wrong.

The bottom of the "L's" are a bit different, but some of sig is very similar too, but Im not an expert either.

Even though he started playing in the late 1800s, he also lived til 1959.
His autograph is not that rare for the era.

The very unusual photo has some value too. (please unbend the corner for me....please! image )

That's the main reason I was saying keep all the item together, for the autograph to be authenticated its best to show its history.
