VCP VS SMR
Most people on this board think VCP is more up to date with pricing than SMR, I would have to agree. I get my SMR magazine and take a quick look and throw it in the garbage because for the most part the pricing has not changed. My question is, what is keeping SMR from taking some of VCP information on pricing and putting it in their price guide, say the 50's one month and the 60's the next month and so on,just wondering?

I know I would want one.
Also journals, magazines and newspapers have been dying for years. Why would they want to invest huge costs into a dying format?
I think the easiest solution is for them to have a fee for you to be able to print off their website. It could be set up just to print what you want. It would take the cost out of their pocket and make it were you would only print the info you wanted.

don't forget the centerfold spread to see if a card is shaved or is brazillian.
Updating the site is done within 5 minutes of any auction ending on eBay minus the BIN's and usually within 24 hours of other auction houses that we cover. I think this is the fastest it can possible be done and we are the only Real Time price guide out there.

Now that's an idea !!!!!
<< <i>I've stopped trying to figure out what's the deal with the SMR. I'm going to take a guess and say that dealers are not that crazy about VCP. >>
I would have to agree , because people are starting to treat VCP like Beckett used to be as gospel and everyone wants it 20 to 50% of what VCP shows and as we all know PSA 9's or whatever grade are not all the same (eye appeal ect ect ), this is also why there are fewer and fewer real auctions on Ebay. just my 2 cents
The thought of taking VCP info and transferring to SMR is, I'm sure, more than illegal and would result in a serious law suit against those who publish SMR. Sadly, SMR has the potential, but never quite seems to get the hang of reality, though they perennially tout "we scour sales, blah, blah, blah" just can't be so.
Buyers may want "x" of VCP, but that's between a buyer and seller..as stated, VCP merely reflects final sales, no more no less. I am very please with my VCP account and have used the "want list" to receive email notifications of cards I'm looking for...SMR will never do this. AND YES, I've had conversations about this with the highest members of the PSA organization to no avail...I have simply no more time, nor effort to continue this "discussion" with them.
As for a paper version of VCP, the printing and mailing would be more than cumbersome and not viable from a business perspective in terms of cost and maintaining mail lists, blah, blah.
