What are your thoughts on bidders with low feedback

Ok my question is this.
On high dollar ebay auctions. An item that should sell from 3000-5000 and someone keeps bidding with a feedback off less than 5? Who comes on ebay as a rookie and bids on 5k items? Does that make it shill bidding? The Way they bid? Or just how often they bid? Or other? I was just looking at an auction and it had 1 bidder bidding it up but had a very low feedback and I thought shill bidding? But how do we really know. How do you prove it. Its a frustrating thing and this is more of a rant. Is this even a fight worth discussing? Its hard to prove

    Everyone started with a ZERO rating. However, it is odd that a "newbie" would be active on a high end item. Odd, but not impossible. You might want to check the seller's other high end items and see if there are similar bidding tends with low or zero feedbacks. That might be an indication of a potential issue, but not necessarily proof positive.

    Twice I've had zero feedback bidders win cards for $2100 (a '58 Ted Williams SGC 92) bidder was from Calif. and $5200 (a '65 Namath PSA 8 RC) bidder was from New York. Both guys paid within a day of their winning bid. The Namath bidder placed about 10 diff. bids on the card during the seven day listing. It probably looked like a shill to other bidders, but he wasn't.

    As Scott pointed out, it does happen. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

    The way ebay is now set up with the hidden id's, it's pretty hard to tell a shill from a legit bidder.

    I had a buyer with 0 feedback win a $1200 card and pay with no problem and then the same buyer bought a $2600 vintage set a few months later with no problem. I also had a guy from Spain with just a couple feedback buy a car I had on ebay around a year ago even though I specifically said no foreign bidders. Well, he paid and had the car picked up by a shipping agent and shipped overseas with no problem whatsoever. I agree with you though. As a seller I hate when I have a high dollar auction and someone with low feedback bidding. I've just been lucky that the people actually followed through with the purchase. I think some of the big dealers might start new accounts for buying high dollar stuff for some reason. Anyone else think that?

    I also think people will create new accounts if they don't want others to know they are bidding on an item. I know ebay masks the id's but you can still figure out if it is someone you have bid against before.

    The last big item I bought on ebay[only $2200],I made a new account so I could keep paypal $$
    in my other account and just pay by c.c. for new purchase.
