    You probably looked them over just fine. You may need to gain experience and adjust expectations. When you first begin to get vintage graded, its really easy to convince yourself that presentable cards with one or some nice chracteristics should get you a 7 or an 8. It just doesn't work that way. Next time you gather cards to submit, go to the registry and check out scans of 7s, 8s, 9s of cards in that year and compare them to what you've got. I think it will be an eye-opener for you to see how much great looking vintage is sitting in PSA 5 & 6 holders.
