    Seen him at the HOFers induction in 1984.Truly a workhorse usually finished what he started.If he had to pitch only 5 or 6 inning a start he could go 3 or 4 times a week.

    I had the chance to meet him in 07. Signed a paper bag for me (I did not have anything with me). Very nice. Willing to talk about his playing days. What was sad is that two current players, none of significance, were nearby. I can understand the youngsters going to the current players, but even the adults were not paying attention to Mr. Roberts. So that gave me more time to spend with him.

    Nice guy to talk with. And I love his signature. Nice and clean.
    I collect PSA graded 1980-81 Basketball.

    As a Phillies fan, Roberts' passing is significant.

    I'm only in my 30s so I didn't see him play. I just know a bit about the HOFer - including that he's one of the very few Phillies to have his number retired. This morning I read where one columnist makes a case for Robin Roberts being the toughest modern-day pitcher.

    As this is a Sports Cards forum, my favorite Roberts card is easily his 1950 Bowman. The 1957 Topps is a distant second. Does anyone own the attractive 1950 Bowman #32 Robin Roberts that can post a scan here?

    Talk about a friend to both the TTM community as well as the Baseball Assistance Team. Within the past year I have gotten Roberts four times (I think) TTM, all with a donation to BAT. One time I sent a multi-signed HOF program, a letter, and a check to BAT. He must not have seen the letter or the check, but sent my item back with a note asking for a donation to BAT (along with my own letter and the check I included). It was really strange, but must have been an oversight on whoever opened the mail, and put all the stuff back in. Either way, I was lucky to send this multisigned piece to him twice and got it back twice. He was scheduled to appear in Cooperstown with MAB this summer, and I believe he had another appearance lined up prior to that.

    I read today that he watched the Phils game last night, then went to bed, and passed away in his sleep. We all can only hope to be so lucky when the time comes for St. Peter to call our name. RIP Robin, you were a great man and will be sorely missed.

    Very sad - A great pitcher, I mean 286 wins on a lot of teams that couldn't hit - remarkable really.

    He will be sorely missed.

    I wrote a quick piece about how Roberts almost had a became a Yankee in the early 1960's. I met him at the Fanfest in 2008 and he told me a bit about Jackie Robinson, even rattling off Robinson's batting average against him.
