Parlor putter wellington-stone 1925

Wondering if anyone is familiar with these novelty items.

I happen to own one and the paint has come in question. I inherited it and the paint has been the same my entire life.

The photos of them around various sites are either of stands with no paint left or 25% or less.

The part of the stand in question is the area where the company attached a sticker. The online pictures show the area to be a odd green color, where as mine is solid gold.

Thanks

I think you're looking for the Decorative Ashtray Forum, down the hall and make a left
  • Maybe, but I think you were looking for Jack Nicklaus and not Nicholson when you picked that avatar for a sports forum....

If you happen to know of a GOLF Decorative Ashtray Forum, or I dunno some forum that talks about sports novelties, collectibles etc, let me know smart guy.
  • Submit it to PSA for grading.

Actually hammered is somwhat right. A knowledgable antiques guy would probably have more info than a sports guy on this. Unless you happen to get lucky with an antique golf guy here. Have you tried goggling "parlor putter"? May lead you to an appraisal more quickly.
  • I think this is considered a collectible sports item. I have listed some links to various auctions

    Parlor putter circa 1920'sanother link

Here is a Mastro auction scroll down to the Golf section!

In my opinion if it was past down from a family member I would keep it and pass down ... The condition is in amazing condition if it hasn't been altered in any way

    estimate value $1,500-$4,000

  • Tried google etc,

Found 3-4 that don't have much paint that I can compare to and 1 that is pictured numerous places. Hard to find info on a company from the 20's.

I realize this forum seems to be mostly about baseball cards, and not so much unofficial types of memorabilia, but I didn't appreciate a smart A response from him, and there is no other forum on here that deals with golf or sports novelties.

Can't seem to find many golfing sites that deal with novelty items either, most are about old hickory clubs etc.

Anyway, thanks I'll try some other places.
  • I think the item is collectible and sports related..

It doesn't fit the coin, stamp, bullion, metal detecting, currency, or autograph section.. Right??

If I was you I would practice the putting every morning! I am not much of golfer but love to work on the putting game...
