A beauty arrived in the mail today. (AARON)

I thought this card looked good from the scan on EBAY so I was determined to get it. I won it for a great price of like $225. When the card arrived I was more than happy. Is high end all the way around. Nice sharp corners, strong clear color, almost perfect centering and a very clean back. This is the type of card that I would expect from a 8.5image

Thats awesome, I am debating pulling the trigger on this one that is way over VCPBowman Mantle 1952
  • A high-end '8'. Nicely centered, though a slight tilt.

Visually, the 1952 Bowman Mantle looks soooo much better than the ugly 1952 Topps pic.

I don't know VCP but $2,500 sounds awfully expensive for that card...

VCP is around 1,900.00 but this one just seems to have a real high end look, am I wrong?

WOW nice. Its hard to tell from the scan but other than the slant are there any problems? Is the word "Outfield" cut off? Defiant chance at .5 bump.

    Nice pickup on the Aaron...image

The Mantle looks high end to me. I would say around $2000 would be a fair price. IMHO...Donato

I think the 52 Bowman is real nice. The corners look like 8's. There is wear on the left border that concerns me and probably prevented the card from grading higher. Still a solid 7. If you want that card you should call them. I'm sure there would be a decent price discount in an outright sale. That is a good card at $2200 based on a VCP of 1900. I've bought a few things from them; but don't know much about them. I met them at a show once and their prices were absurd.

    that's how we do it!

hard to believe that card only sold for that amount too??
i need extra cheese, so i guess i will start
    collecting 65 aarons now :> .....

card looks to be w/in 9 range centering wise, but i know nothing about 65 topps

    great work sir

I'd also like to see the reverse on that 52 Mantle.

For 2,500.00 ya think Triple sssssssssssss coulda swung for a pic of the back.

That way we all could judge how badly the wax stain is.

(if it has one of course)

Edited to add: Nice card Mickey.

    Good for you.

    Steve,

There is a scan of the back in the listing, it's wax free and sharp, it's just way over VCP is the issue I guess anyone would have and it is recently graded under the 1/2 scale.

    Steve,
The back on that Mantle is super clean. The front borders and a little on his face- surface wear. I think it's a nice 7; I just wonder what the look of the borders are when it's in hand.

Ahh my error I did not scroll down.

Nice card, just not worth 2500.00..................to me.

    Good for you.

Apparently it's not worth that amount to anyone as it has been re-listed several times although it is tempting the heck out of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like looking at cards. This can become a Clemente thread and I wouldn't mind at all. Especially the 1955 Clemente.

It's my fault about the Mantle thread, I should have started another post, my apologies.image

I disagree. I think the card is just slightly off in the holder.

    Great card. image

    Nightcrawler,
I actually don't see a noticeable tilt either. I'm not saying it's perfectly 50/50; but fairly close.

I had a 1952 Bowman Mantle SGC 6, that looked as good as that PSA 7, if not better....final selling price? $935.......just be patient for a more affordable one.
