1966 Mickey Mantle worth reviewing to try and bet a .5 bump?

Hi - I got this card when I was 10 years old. My mother bought it for me at a card show for 20 bucks. Its pretty much in the same shape when she bought it for me. Yeah I know its only a psa 1. Do you think this might bump to a 1.5? I submitted the card myself before the .5 system was put in place. Also want to mention I had it slabbed just for protection for sentimental reasons. Thank you in advance.

<< <i>It doesn't sound like you're going to sell it, so why waste the money? >>
You are correct I wont sell it. If my kids decide to though after I am dust.
I agree the corners are bad. They were always bad on that card, but the fraying wasn't as visible bad before I subbed it. The swear the grader of death picked at it to make it worse then it was. Especially on the top left corner front. Also this card was submitted along with a bunch of 1984 Topps that grades came back worse then my expectations. I know the grader of death did that particular submission I sent in...
still I think it is one of the nicer PSA 1 cards I have seen, At least its not all bent and creased up...
<< <i>I would either crack it out and resubmit, or leave it alone. Review in this case is worthless imo. >>
I completely agree. The only reason people choose reviews over cracking out the card is because they are worried about a lower grade. In your case there is no possible lower grade (except auth. which it won't get) so you should crack it out and resub. Plus, it is usually a lot faster to sub a raw card then have a graded card reviewed. If there are no creases then it is possible that it grades a 2 even. Just an opinion.

Nice low grade card though.

1) the grader of death did this submission
2) imo the card I have looks way better then all the PSA 1 cards I have seen.
3) If I ever become dust and my kiddies decide to sell. I rather the card be in a higher grade holder if it deserves to be.
some 707 examples...
The card I have doesn't look as nice as this psa 2 example. But it surpasses this PSA 1 example IMO.
Leave it as is = 8
Crack resub = 4
review = 0
<< <i>Your card has character. It's a solid 1 all day. Sure your PSA 1 looks better that 707's, but why spend $5-10 on a review, plus shipping expenses, when you might only increase the value of it by $10-20? It's not worth it. >>
I agree. It's a nice looking card as is, don't sweat the label enjoy the card.
I think that unless the card is +$1000 card in its current condition, there is little to gain chasing a .5 bump. If you are a collector and you think your card was short-changed and the money doesn't mean much to you, have at it!
Even if you are doing it for resale, I don't believe it's worth it. Here's why. The average VCP price only goes up by less than $20 from a PSA 1 to a PSA 3.
Average VCP PSA 1 price: $42.04
Average VCP PSA 2 price: $52.30
Average VCP PSA 3 price: $58.97
I know these prices are only the average and some PSA 3's have sold for much more, but those are for usually well centered or sharper cornered examples.
Not worth it based on these prices...Still a special card after all it was from Mom...

I would keep it as a PSA 1 and the market will decide the value if its ever sold
(PSA 1)
$52.00 - High
$42.04 - Average
$24.50 - Low
(PSA 2)
$68.01 - High
$52.30 - Average
$43.00 - Low

To use another a propos cliche:
It's a card only a mother could love...
<< <i>all kidding aside, is there such a thing as a 1.5? >>
Yes I subbed a 1959 Johnny Unitas that was my dad's and it got a 1.5 Fair. I thought it was probably a 1 or 2, but slabbed it nonetheless as it was my dad's and wanted it slabbed for sentimental reasons as well.
