Graded cards in a pack- worth the money?

Was just reading about 2010 Razor Legends of the Diamond. Each pack has 1 card either a pre 1970 psa 7 or better hall of famer or should be hall of famer(Rose,Maris, etc). Also a chance for a pre 1970 psa/dna auto card.

Actually, I don't think there are many PSA 7 HOF cards from the 60s that go for over $240.
In a marketing sense, I think the Graded Card in a pack has to date been a complete failure. The only exception sadly being the BCCG/Walmart boxes, which has more to do with price and location, then real value or collector interest.
Razor has however does a good job with their (Tri-Star) Signa-Cut like cards. They seem to go for several times for then the Tri-Stars and this isn't a bad ideal. Still, seems like they could have had a $100 retail and still provide a very cool card in every pack.
Clear Skies,
Mark
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
I saw these just from the Blowout forums.......
Has anyone seen this product?
I believe it is 1 PSA graded "vintage" card (Not sure how far back they go)
On Blowout boards these were pulled:
I can't find the thread but there was an Auto's Mantle (58 AS I believe) and a dual Auto's Mantle/Mays (60 ro 61 combo card) that were pulled as well as these....

Sounds like overpriced lottery tickets to me.
I would rather just spend the $250 on a card I wanted.

In this case I would rather spend 2500 on maybe a PSA 7 Clemente RC instead of a chance at a Mantle RC.

<< <i>Yes huge waste in my opinion too!!!! Anybody know the production run of these boxes ??? Say less than 10,000 boxes??
Ryan
Razor usually makes 299 cases, not sure on this product. Think it would be a good seller at $100-$125.

<< <i>They already gave the box containing the 55 Koufax to the company owner's brother-in-law. LOL >>
Seems rather shady and a huge conflict of interest if this is indeed the case. With the way the hobby is right now, I believe it.

That is Bs! Anybody find out the production run? The Srp is pretty high. Stopped into my local shop and it was $250.00.... I wonder how much money he buys them for or the markup? Like stated in above posts $100-$150 a box is a bit more realistic and makes it less of a lottery ticket.... imo

<< <i>Absolutely not worth the money. Sounds like a C- 7th grade business project idea. Can't believe they went through with it. That's like a $200 per pull slot machine with a 50-80% payout. Some people will do it but no doubt a horrible idea. >>
Using the numbers above, 399 razor cases, ~$180 direct cost, with your payout numbers, means they need to sell about ~300 cases to break even......doesn't sound that hard to do. Razer has a history of selling out of its other products. If the purpose of business is to make money, I would not call this a "C- 7th grade business project idea." Looks more like a quick ~$18,000 x how ever many boxes in a case profit.

Topps cards are common, the signed cards by players like Feller, Spahn, Roberts, etc. (if EX or better) are almost worth LESS than if unsigned.
