esnipe issue

Has anyone else had this problem lately? I bid on three separate cards and I won each one, but it ended up exactly my highest amount. That seems odd that I did not win any bids for less than my maximum amount? Any thoughts?

Weird.....that happened to me just recently with a purchase. Right down the $1, I won at the max amount I sniped.
Just coincidently someone else had sniped TWICE for the SAME amount just to assure they bid $1 under my bid amount.

I posted this question on another forum about the dangers of accessing snipe data and using it to shill bids.
The amount of $$ damage snipe data can do is tremendous. In all honesty can you really trust these snipe providers?

Thinking it just a coincidence, but something to keep an eye on for sure.
  • I thought it was a coincidence also, but I bid $430 on one item, $315 on another item, and $11.50 on the last item. They were strange amounts, and the person I would have outbid, would have had to bid exactly the amount of the increased bid amount below my max bid????

If that made sense, it is pretty strange!

Exact same thing happened to me, did you check to see if the other bidder was a snipe? If so how many times did they bid in the last minute?

I won an auction yesterday for $127.50 that was exactly my high bid amount.

This is NOT true.. Say you sniped at $315, and another person sniped at $314. your snipe came with 5 sec the other at 4 secs. You would win at $315... If your bid came in after, you would not as you would not be above the Min bid...

I have not had any problems sniping with the service I use, it snipes at the last sec...

For this very reason I am going to start manual sniping vs using a service where my information is stored.

If you are a high volume seller on ebay this type of data would turn your revenue into a gold mine.

  • Thanks for the input. I think we should all keep an eye on this issue. I have never had this problem in the past, and I have used esnipe for years and purchased hundreds of items. It just seemed odd that it took my exact highest bids the last three times.

I consistently win my snipes at less than I set the snipe for. It is very rare when my snipe is maxed. I do lose my share of snipes, too. But the scenarios cited above are probably more coincidence than anything else.
