Son Met Evan Longoria at Fenway

Yesterday, my son went to the Red Sox vs. Rays game yesterday with a friend of his and his dad. Because of the 11:10 start, they left at 8:30. Before he left, he was looking through a box of cards trying to decide what Evan Longoria card to bring with him, hoping he would get a chance to sign. He had 2 in his pocket. Right before he left, he dediced that he didn't want to leave them in his pocket all day with the chance of Longoria not even coming near him, so he left them on the table. At around 11:00, I got a call from my son. He went on tell me that he and his friend stood next to the Rays dugout for 40 minutes and waited for someone to come over and sign something. They were too late for Pat Burrell and Andy Sonnanstine, but 15 minutes before the game Longoria, Carl Crawford, B.J. Upton and Ben Zobrist came out to stretch. After he was done stretching, Longoria came over and signed my son's and his friend's ticket stubs. There were about 15-20 other kids there and Longoria signed for all of them. He said that he was very polite. On the ride home, my son's friend looked in his pocket and he lost the ticket.

Sweeeeet!! I love to see kids having the thrill of getting an autograph. image
  • very cool... are you going to send it to psa/dna ticket authentication? It's a little on the pricy side but well worth IMO for the protection it offers!

Awesome to hear stories like this. Something similar to this happened to me as a kid at Yankee Stadium. Believe it or not, the nice, polite player was Gary Sheffield of all people when he played for the Brewers. My how times have changed...

What a THRILL that must have been for your son. I hope he enjoys it!
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I still remember my first MLB player auto at the Kingdome, Tino Martinez as a Mariner.
Tino had a cool hook to the "M" in Martinez and being that my name is Martin I replicated that "M".

20 some years later i'm still using that special "M" in my own signature.

Special moments as a child will always stick with you.
