Anyone like '67's?

Thought I'd share a few that I've picked up over the past couple of months for my set. Here are some of the stars and some of the ridiculously tough high numbers. I subbed some of them myself and bought the rest. The Brooks Robinson card is one of my favorites.

Beautiful cards. The first packs I bought as a kid in mass. Used to buy the 6 pack wax trays @ the IGA for 25 cents each. As a 7 year old I didn't understand the "series" thing and wonderd why I kept getting the same 132 cards over and over. FInally finished my set in the late 80's after running into a high number lot at a show in Cincinnati. I then started a second set (autographed) of which I am now up to 427 different cards but have really slowed down the work on. This is my favorite all time card both signed and unsigned.

I love the 67 set still working on my raw set.
there are some very nice cards in thar group.the high numbers are killer, congrats
  • Thanks for the OP for sharing the cards. They're very nice to view.

Nice follow-up story by Smuggo. My brother and I long held the 1967 Brock-Flood card in reverance, though all the '67s were issued before we were born.

To me, 1967s are the best-looking Topps Baseball cards from the mid or late '60s.
  • Thanks for scanning those, what a sight. Do you have the entire set, and are they all graded?

I think my eyes dont work properly, almost every 67 looks tilted to me. Is it just the year or im nuts?

I dont mean your cards , i mean 67s in general.

The 67's can have trouble with that (tilt) at times.

Wow, nice Brooks! That's the only one I'm missing for my basic set... I'd be happy to have it in a 3 though! image

Almost all of those high numbers are pre-half-grade, so you might have even better cards than you think!

very nice cards - PSA 6, 7, and 8's in my opinion are nice values in this year - many not too expensive for some very nice cards.

Kind of a silly question; the 1967 set is considered by far the most popular 1960's Topps baseball set (though I personally like 1965's design better). Though 1967's main claim to fame is the photos and conserative design, don't overlook the distinctive olive green (very appropriate for the late 1960s) back design either.

    Cool autos!

But what's with the Whitey Ford one? It doesn't even resemble the facsimile on the card. Not even close!

I can't even imagine what an entire '67 auto'ed set would fetch. Is it even possible to obtain due to some of the deceased players?

To answer a few questions, I have around 120 graded right now with an average of around 7.5 and the only 6 being the Seaver. The rest of the set is raw and averages NM. I still need to obtain/upgrade several high numbers and a few of the low numbers.

Also, thanks to SOM who pointed out that all of the high numbers were pre-half point. It might definitely be worth sending them in on a review special. The VCP on those high numbers, even the commons, is crazy as anyone that has ever delved into that market knows.

  • My favorite design of the 60's. And I hope to be living for another six years to see what the 2016 Topps Heritage product does in honor image

  • My favorite set of all time. I was nine years old in 1967, I just had discovered baseball cards and my beloved Redbirds won the World Series. Funny thing...I live near St. Louis and the high series was easier to find in my area than the second to last (semi high) series was. Plus, that card set is chock full of many of the game's greatest players.......

BabyBull (A Cepeda reference I am assuming) I am right there with you. I was born in 1959 and this was the first set I really pack a lot of packs of. It also coincided with the Redbirds great 1967 season and that is why I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread that the Brock/Flood card is my all-time favorite but I love all of the '67 Cardinals cards.

The facsimile autograph is "Edward Ford" (Whitey's given name).
