Looking to start collection Caesars

Hello,

New to the World and Ancient coin forum and am looking for any reputable dealers that specialize in ancient roman coinage. Any help would be appreciated.

I sure others will add their recommendations - a few good dealers post regularly here.

Check VCoins out for a broad selection from good dealers:

New to the World and Ancient coin forum Welcome!

You could do worse than checking out Civitas Galleries.image

(previous message replaced) - You might try Forum Ancient Coins. They have an active message board for all levels of collectors.

You might also enjoy a subscription to "The Celator"

The higher quality coins are harder to find and your best sources will be auctions (a group site of some of the best is Sixbid.com)

Lastly, I group site with 1,000s of coins for retail sale is MA Shops

Personally, I use an agent for most purchases.

I've bought from dealers on Vcoins and never had a problem. I would not hesitate to buy from Civitas either. Both sites are fun to browse and very educational also.

    Richard -

Nice collection! And that gold 60 asses! I'm very envious!

EDIT: Richard, you edited out the link to your Roman collection. It can't be reached from your signature link.

    QuarterCollector -

I'm sure I don't need to say this, but I will. Fakes of Romans on eBay are common. Some are obvious, some will fool many. So if you're tempted by anything on eBay, the usual applies. Know the coin type well, and/or, know the seller.
I collect history in the form of coins.

In all honesty, I would make sure you could find one who can guarantee his coins have not been recently looted and not offered without context.
