They started grading them several months ago. I have submitted them recently and had them graded to confirm.

I would think they would grade them because the recession has slowed business and any niche they can find helps.

I like the Nestle cards, personally.

I thought because of the chance of this paticuliar series being hand cut they stopped grading them. What changed that now they do grade them??

    Hi Kirk

The only way you can have them as cards is hand cut.

    Good for you.

Thanks for bringing attention to that fact. If this is the case, then isn't there a minimum size requirement of how the cards should be cut for maximum appeal and grading? Also, how people cut them is going to vary. Is it an accurate cut with a high end cutter, or some rusty guillotine paper cutter from a school? Too many variable to consider.

I think, and I can certainly be wrong, but from how I understood it was they were now going to grade

those examples that were factory cut. Seems someone or three back in the day had sets of sheets

cut professionally. I recently bought such a set from BBCE. Now if someone has a sheet and decides

to cut it down I'm sure PSA will make sure it is cut properly before they will grade and encapsulate it.

So, if a card is cut and is proper in size I assume they will holder it.

hold on I'll see if I have some in my PB account to post here.

I've had two different results from PSA on cards that are cut a little small.
The first they kicked back as Min. Size. The second they holdered, but only gave it a grade of Authentic.

    Steve,

Thanks for sharing those cards. They look really nice. If the factory did not cut them originally, then having it in card form is an alteration, technically speaking. But seeing how there is demand in having them in card form, people want to collect them. It is not rocket science to have thin sheets of cardboard cut somewhere. As long as the cuts are made straight and clean, people can collect those cards and appreciate them.

It is a very interesting hobby phenomenon that something altered would have good market value and demand. I wonder how much the values do differ from their Topps counterparts.

I guess this is akin to having autographed rookie cards, when signed by the player pictured, rise in value when compared in its original state.

I have the Cardinals team set. I did not know that they were sheet cut. I will have to check them out when I get home.

    Steve,

In your set, when you grab 30 or 40 of them at once, do they square up nicely on all sides like a brick, or are size discrepancies (no matter how tiny) visible?

I'm not talking to you, you are evil.

    In Italian 'diabolico'

Hold on I'll check, I have some left in the 800 ct box, I put most in sheets already.

I have a stack of about 150 and they stack up, all but one card seems over sized.

When I was putting them into sheets I did not notice many over sized cards.

As for the centering, most seem dead on, however I had to return a couple to Steve

and he sent me replacements that were also OC but not as bad. He claimed at the time to have a

bunch of sets and all were cut the same, so IMO that batch were cut at the same time.

I have no idea how other sets will stack up.

    Steve

    EDIT:
I meant 'only one card is oversized'
    Good for you.

Here is a copy of the ad that ran in the coupon circulars back in the spring of 1984 advertising the set (uncut sheets); ironically, about 5 or 6 years ago one of the kids in the ad (who has obviously grown up). contacted me and sold me a signed ball that Cal & Winfield signed for him that day..

There was definitely a black and white Mattingly fake, marketed as a test or proof. Not sure on Boggs or any other players, buy they are indeed fakes.
