Baseball still has a long term memory

Don't know how many of you caught the earlier beaning this month of Prince Fielder. I would have thought it would have occurred when the two teams meet this year. Topps caught that moment on their baseball card this year ( see below) when Prince hit a walk off home run. No one was on base, so Prince jaunted around and when he came to home plate-- the team lined up like bowling pins. Apparently the pitcher that gave up the home run did not care for his antics last season and drilled Prince in the back on the first pitch thrown to him earlier this month in a spring training game.

the pitcher was Barry Zito, and I guess you can call that "drilled"...though I doubt Prince even felt it given Zito's velocity, or lack thereof, from the John Mayer wannabe.

Actually, the pitcher who gave up the walkoff was Merkin Valdez, who got DFA'ed in January, and is now a Blue Jay.

Zito dealt the "payment" pitch. Still, with Zito throwing, Fielder got a discount. image

He should learn now that his Ochocinco act isn't appreciated. Next time they should aim for his melon.

Heh, if Fielder was a Dodger or an A, I imagine there'd be a whole lot more fuss about it.

  • So, can anyone confirm or deny if the Zito card is a picture of him plunking Fielder?

Heck I would have drilled him for having his shirt untucked.

Zito was the 1st of many to come this year for the Prince of Dumpy. And Im sure he will notice the others a bit more in the bruise ratting.

He will circle the bases like Matt Williams or Mantle in the future.

I doubt it. He's going to keep being the same clueless, classless jerk he's always been. The apple didn't fall far from the tree, even if they don't get along these days.
  • I think they all fell over when he was rounding second base from the earth quake.

That card should be titled ( I can't belive I ate the whole thing )

Heh, the Giants plunked Fielder AGAIN today! This time it was Jonathan Sanchez doing the plunking. LOL!

I wonder if this is the start of a trend? image
