<< <i>Anyone know of a magazine traders or collectors forum like this, cleaning out the basement and need to get rid of some magazines. >>
your best bet is to try the cgc forum as they are now grading all types of magazines. if you have any monster magazines from the 50's such as famous monsters please e-mail me buymoviepostersebay@gmail as pay very well for them.
Guess I could have been more specific, not anything considered highly collectable, Maxim from issue #2 until 2009 and Playboy from around 1992-2009. I cleaned out a rental house five years ago and had two pickup loads of old magazines, went to the recycling center, guess I probably screwed up there.
This brings up a good issue. Magazines seem to be extremely hit or miss. Myself and I'm sure many others have mistakenly assumed in the past that they are as a whole worthless. I passed up a huge lot of vintage playboys a couple summers back at a garage sale because I didn't think I could make any money on them. When I got home and checked eBay I found out I was very wrong. They were gone went I went back.
So besides Playboys and Monster Mags, what else should I be keeping an eye out for?
Mullins, what is significant about the specific magazines you are looking for? I'm assuming its the person on the cover?

I'm a huge Kurt Vonnegut fan and these magazines have some of his earliest short stories. If you come across old magazine, old stories published by notable authors are like comics...first appearances and key stories will cost the collector the most.
