Refund PLUS return shipping on SNAD returns (ebay)

I bought a raw card recently that turned out to be fairly badly recolored. It didn't show up in the scan though. He agreed to a refund after I returned the card. I've requested that the seller refund the postage it cost me to send the card back to him. Am I out of line here?

It's not fair that after all is said and done, the buyer is the one who comes up short due to the seller's error.

It's not fair, but it is what it is. It's the reason so many crap raw singles never get returned.

Cost me $1.58 to send it back (put his PWE and put it in a bubble mailer to make sure it got to him the way it came to me).

By the way, a good seller pays for the return shipping of the customer especially in a case where the item was not properly described. If he takes care of you, it indicates he is likely a good seller with good intentions. Mistakes happen.

Just to be clear, he refunded the purchase price AND the s/h. I'm asking about the money I paid the USPS to send it back.

Do you ask Walmart to refund you for a gallon of gas that you used to return an item?
The seller refunded you the cost and your S/H, so leave it at that. You're out $1.58 but at least you got your money back. No neg, but you can ding his DSR's for shipping charges.
Waaay to many people are too eager to neg someone. Or at least post in the hopes others will make the decision for them.
Sheesh. Just drive thru

It's different (or should be) online.
With computers at least, if you buy a defective component from an online retailer, they'll send you a return label, and sometimes cross-ship you your replacement.

WTF! Why should I pay for the seller's mistake?
If I was "greedy" I'd be trying to profit out of this. All I'm trying to do is get back to $0.

I understand that, but you do take some degree of risk in the transaction. I don't like returning stuff on my dime either, but it is what it is.

In this situation a return label would have been him sending a postage stamp or two for your PWE back to him.
It is my opinion that you are being a tad unreasonable about the return shipping. I would be leaving positive feedback for the seller for his cooperation if I were in your shoes.

And that guy Levi has some nerve asking those BIN prices he does...who does he think he is, anyway!
Edit to add: Does anyone know if the PSA policy for card grading is FIFO? Thanks in advance!

<< <i>We can argue about the details, but the bottom line is I HATE when a seller charges me $3.50 to ship a card, and the postage paid is only $2.70. What's up with that!!!!! >>
it cost the seller something for the bubble mailer and the printed invoice and the tape to seal the package. Please don't bid on any of my auctions I charge 2.75 and the post office charges me 2.19 so I made 56 cents minus bubble mailer + holder for the card + ink for printing a invoice + tape for sealing the package and then getting it the post office.
I don't care what they charge for shipping figure it in with your BID.
PS: on an item SNAD the seller should refund shipping both ways unless it is PITA buyer that expects Mint when the ad says EX-MT.
double PS: how much was this card the seller is screwing you on? please give a link !
heck: lets make the seller ship first before the buyer even pays + give the buyer 6 months to pay so that way if they can't flip the card and double their money , just send it back with a bill for return shipping!
Triple PS: I hate duke , Go purdue!
quadruple PS: I hate purdue too, I just hate duke more! na na na na

Edit to add: I cracked a '78 Pete Rose #20 PSA 8, and it came back a PSA 7.5! This kind of inconsistency in grading just SENDS ME TO THE FREAKING MOON, and I'm sick of it!

Digicat did a nice job in keeping the return shipping low, but still packaged well. If this was a return because the buyer did not like the item, the seller should not have to pay the return shipping. Fair is fair.
MY rant: If the item is BIN, there is no reason for a seller to put in a shipping cost. Just have shipping included in the BIN price and simplify everything.

u go digicat!!!!!
The buyer said the recoloring couldn't be seen in the seller's scan. LOL

Buying a card based on that crappy scan is gambling. The seller refunded the cost of the card and shipping. The cost of return shipping should be looked at as a gambling loss and could have been avoided by asking for a better scan.

Whatever. I don't mind if it's a crapy card, I just don't want one that's been fracked around with.
I'm waiting to see if he relists the card. If he does, then I will most certanly neg him.
Yeah, it's a cheap item, but it's the principle of the mater. I usually don't get pissed about stuff like this, but I guess this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Crap, maybe I am like the guy in Falling Down now.

That being the case, the $1.58 might be the penalty for
not seeing the damage in the scan.
Tho an equity case can be argued that the seller should
note such defects in writing.

<< <i>Why would the seller even want a recolored $8 back anyway? I would have refunded the money and told him don't bother sending it back. >>
I'm with you on this one. I think it's the responsibility of the seller to make sure the item they are selling is as described. If not it's their responsibility to fix it. The WalMart example is not fair if you buy something at the store, but if you buy something online and it is not as you expected they will pay you for returning the item, at least they have me.
I have sent the wrong item accidentally and an item that was described improperly, I gladly refunded the return shipping to me with no questions asked. If it was not my mistake and buyers remorse I would probably make a decision based on the cost and buyer.
