LIST YOUR FAV BASKETBALL PLAYER OR TEAM SET HERE! LETS GO!

Hello to all!!! NCAA, NIT, and NBA all heating up! So lets list our fav player and/or team set! My mom is from MI, so when Magic went to Lakers in 1979, that became our team. My fav player is Magic, and Bird vs Magic is the greatest of all time! Your cards or items can be any grade or company, no matter if it books 50 cents or $5,000, if its what you like, for bball, list it here! PSA BVG/BGS SGC GAI whatever, it goes here!

I don't have a 1989 SLU Bird vs Magic One on One, but I do have both cards from the SLU, pop is 3 and 5 in a PSA 10, so I am very glad I got the pair.

Also, check out my web link for my growing Magic collection. The Genuine Buyback Magic Auto 1/1 graded is my fav card so far.

I have to with Larry Legend being my favorite player. Growing up in the 80's in New England was awsome and the rivalry with the Lakers was intense.

I haven't heard of a Marbury card yet. He hasn't been there that long but I wouldn't be shocked if he got one eventually.

I am also a big fan of the 80's Lakers. I loved Magic, my best friend loved Bird, made for some great games in the back yard. I could never separate Magic from Kareem, they just go together. Here is one of my favorite Kareem cards, 1978 Pepsi 8x10:

Also a big fan of Pistol Pete, here is a 70's Superstar Sock card:

Growing up in Virginia my favorite of all was Ralph Sampson. I don't have any scans handy but will find something late tonight to add to this of King Ralph.

  • Wow! The Kareem Pepsi 8x10 is very nice! Never seen one, never knew it exsisted! Makes the thread worth it to me, just to find that out! Also, stud Maravich card, never saw that before either. I know what you mean, about looking for 2 years, then find back to back dupes.

LBJ. I think he may challange Jordan as greatest ever. Naturally he must win championships before the debate begins.

  • I have been a Kobe fan since his first year in the league. I really admire his determination to win and his work ethic. We hear stories about him (here in LA) being the first one to practice and the last one to leave and just working hard all the time. I do believe that Lebron is a better all around player at this time (MVP)...... but with the game on the line.... I want number 24 taking the last shot.

I agree with you socalguy1967, Kobe is the closer over anyone. The only reason Lebron is "better" right now, is because he is younger. Someday he may get the mindset and figure it all out like Jordan and Kobe did. Hopefully not this season! image

For me, it's easily Michael Jordan. Growing up in the late 80's and 90's in Northern Michigan... 8 hours from Detroit and 5 hours from Chicago... was a huge Bulls fan. It was great in Jr. High and High School the games between the Bulls and the Bad Boys. I still hate Bill Laimbeer with a passion to this very day!

Here is a snapshot of my Jordan PSA collection currently in the works!

Magic Johnson for sure. 6 foot 9 point guard that plays center when needed in the NBA finals? Oh yeah.

All of these players mentioned are in the top ten for NBA elite, except for Laimbeer. I still love the time R. Parrish Tomahawk chopped him and gave him what he deserved. I will put Bird as the player I would want to take the last shot with the game on the line.
  • haha......poor laimbeer....no respect......yes, it was good when he'd get whats coming to him. I have the 1984-85 lakers dvd return to glory, and in the clinching game, bird must have been a little frustrated, cause he does something i find really amusing. he wasn't doing anything on purpose, but cooper was bringing up the ball after a celtic miss, he was just past half court when out of nowhere bird comes flying in at full speed head on into cooper. cooper bounces off him in a huge wipe out, and bird just stands there like "what the h-e double L did i just do".......very funny......good stuff.

I also love it when Larry would not shake his hand before the game. You see him just wiping the bottom of his soles of his sneakers and Laimbeer is extending his hand and Larry is just ignoring him.
