Coupla things not quite right. I'm going by my 55 Topps Williams' sig...
The "T" is very questionable; the lead in "e" for Ted is way too long; he does not go from the "d" in Ted directly into the "W" of Williams; the "i" don't appear to be dotted; the "i" into the "a" of Williams is connected, not so on my card; and the "s" in Williams is way, way off, not only is the s bad, but the drooping finish is not even close to my card, the s in my card swoops up and is short.
Thanks for the opinions guys! I bought it off a former board member who is now a member of another board. I don't have much in it, so no big loss. Just for giggles, I have done a PSA DNA Quick Opinion on it. I will post the results once I get it back.
Thanks for reposting the pic. It does looks very "slow" like someone copied a signature slowly.
Try to get your $$ back, its really not even close
Below is one that I have right now (I got it super cheap) that can go either way.... I have yet to get it authenticated
might be a clubhouse sig (a good % of vintage Williams sigs he DID NOT sign, especially mail requests)
Neg would be the stop and start between first and last name, but I have seen a few early sigs like that, and his mid 1950s Topps cards are like that. The worst thing IMO is the "d" ends down, most he goes up right away at end of "d", even if he stops it should have an up turn I would think.
Plus side...Postcard and sig is vintage to the '50's, but it was a mail request (not in person) and these exact postcards are not too rare so he sent them out often..........
I have it for sale on my site and if someone buys it and its rejected I would refund 100% no problem.
Just an update....first, thank you to all who replied to this thread, I appreciate the input.
And second, I have been in contact with the seller (who is one of the good guys) and he refunded my money PLUS my Quick Opinion cost, a really classy thing to do.
At his request, I will be destroying the photo.
Again, thank you all for your input, it is much appreciated.
FKW.....regarding your photo; in addition to the details you pointed out, I also don't like the height of the "s". It shouldn't go that high.
Edited to add that there is also one too many spikes on the "m", and it looks more like a w than an m. One more is the "T". In all the authentic Williams signatures I recall seeing, he formed the bottom of the T by going left from the trunk, then down and back. On this one, it looks like it goes left, then UP and back.
basically I have seen at least a dozen of these postcards signed all are different, different pens, different spots. One is on ebay right now..... The problem is some are signed by Ted, others by the clubhouse boy.

I don't think it's legit.

If you hold out for a bit, Gecko will donate $30 to your favorite charity.
