Slump?

who are all these people who keep outbidding me, huh? i thought we were in the middle of a financial meltdown in this country, but someone forgot to tell a few eBay-ers and it has greatly affected my ability to........WIN.......so, i've been defeated at more auctions than i've taken this month. image

to paraphrase Mark Twain, the news of the death of this business has been greatly exaggerated.

i'm never sure how to differentiate the two.....let's just say i'm actively pursuing Baby Boomer era stuff, with a heavy dose of hippie, but cut it off right before bellbottoms & Disco. image

And twinkies, and ding dongs, and donuts, and a diet coke to wash everything down.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I just saw them floating over my head at the St. Patricks Day parade!
  • At least 2 auctions that closed last night that I bid on, went much higher than I thought:

    1. 1961 Billy Williams RC PSA 9
    3/16/10 eBay $897.00
    8/16/09 eBay $782.00
    6/26/09 Legendary $540.00
    4/5/09 Memory Lane $810.75
    11/30/08 eBay Image $735.00
    5/30/08 Goodwin $679.15
    3/16/08 eBay $726.01
    2/3/08 eBay $658.00
    1/20/08 eBay $693.78

    2. 1967 Yaz PSA 9
    3/16/10 eBay $1,202.77
    11/5/09 eBay BIN $1,100.00
    6/21/09 eBay $805.91
    5/5/09 eBay $861.00
    4/21/08 eBay $902.00
    4/10/08 eBay $709.00

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all "right-thinking" people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as “bad luck.”
