OK, so does anyone know what this PCGS announcement will be?

Received an email from PCGS stating the following...

<< <i>The Big One is Coming! By David Hall PCGS, PCGS CoinFacts and the Certified Coin Exchange (CCE) will be launching numerous new initiatives, products and services in 2010. There will be a series of announcements over the course of the year. Some fairly significant things have already been introduced, including the PCGS Million Dollar Coin Club. Some things, such as our research on the 1841 quarter eagle, are ongoing. But all the things we've done so far this year, and all the things we'll do this year pale in comparison to the announcement we'll be making at the Mid-Winter ANA convention in Fort Worth, Texas. At 10:30 on March 25, 2010, in Room #108, Fort Worth Convention Center, we will unveil the "Next Step"... the "New Way"... the "Big One." If you're going to be at the ANA convention, don't miss it! If you're not going to be at the ANA, check PCGS.com at 12:00 PST on March 25 for all the info. THE BIG ONE IS COMING! >>

So does anyone know what this is about?

I also see extensive advertisements on Coin World magazine about "The Big One". I personally hope that it'll be big, but man, if it doesn't turn out that way, it will be "The Embarassing One"!
  • I'm having trouble even imagining anything big enough to live up to the hype.

    yawn.

Oh wait ... maybe they're going to offer all their grading services for free to everyone!

Now THAT might live up to the hype!

    Floating guaranteed values accompany grade.

Any tampering with the slab causes a noticeable phyical change.

BB will almost cease as all coins will be slabbed with appropriate details/information

Coins that will not cross will not be broken out of the original slab.

PCGS will devote time/energy/money to World Coins and develop a knowledge
base in partnership with Krause and other experts to allow PCGS to be a major
force in world coin slabbing. They will also have a newspaper/newsletter/publication/website
    on world coin news.

These guesses are based on what I would like to see happen.

As our president recently inquired as to where we get our world coin news, perhaps they're making a big splash into coin journalism? Just a stab in the dark....

  • I just hope that it won't require a two year contract with AT&T. Is David Hall going to wear a sweater and give a keynote presentation before a packed audience?

Based on the clues about it coming out of left field and flipping a switch, I predicted an IPTV, web hosting, data center solution for collectors.
