What does this Ebay Buyer want??

On January 30th I sold this person a Ernie Banks autographed card on ebay. On March 1st he sends me an email stating that when he opened it the hard plastic case that it was in cracked during shipment and damaged the card. He said that he still wanted the card but was asking for a partial refund. He then said that he will send me pictures of the card and the damage. After that March 1st email I have not heard back from him or had any pictures sent to me. What would you do? I believe he only has 45 days to file a claim and that 45 days are up on the 16th of March. I thinK I am just going to let it go because he can't be that upset since it has been almost 45 days and he took no action or even emailed me with pictures or how much he would like back. The card only sold for $30.00 so it was not like it was a high dollar card and he is losing a lot of money.

Could it of originally been a scam and then he thought better of it?

Sounds like he decided against damaging the card himself to prove the damage and he then went quietly into the night

  • I don't know if you have replied to him since he sent his complaint on March 1st but maybe he's waiting for your reply... I would shoot him an email asking if he is going to send the pix and make it clear you want to help him out if it is truly damaged.

I responded to him on March 1st giving him my email address and asking him to send me the pictures so we can tehn discuss how to fix the problem. He never replied.

  • Just forget the entire thing. He's not very upset about anything.

If the item was damaged he would have emailed you since, it's only been 11 days.

Did he open a PP claim? If not, then you're really not obligated to for fear of it costing you money but I would still shoot him an email. However, I would never refund until he returned the card to me and I was sure it was a usps error and not a switched card, buyer remorse, or similar buyer created error.

How about some more details? Paypal?

He's a fraud. If the card really was damaged, he would want a full refund, not a partial one.
Since you called his bluff, looks like he went away.

Let it go, if it was really damaged he would have asked for the full refund.

I agree with everyone above. He obviously isn't too upset or you would have heard about it.

If my wife had only one eye, I think I'd remember the color
