Some help with a autograph found to be questionable.

I just recently subbed a few of my auto's. One of the cards I subbed was found to be questionable. I know for a fact that is legit since it was obtained in person. I was wondering what steps I should take to get this looked at again. The card has already been shipped back to me or I would send them an email to get a second opinion. If anyone can give me a suggestion on how to handle this I would really appreciate it. Thanks

To be fair it does look shaky, and psa/dna is basing the authentication on how it looks not provenance, understandably frustrating. I would throw it on Ebay with a high BIN (so nobody buys it), write out the story, do a quick opinion, if it passes send the quick opinion in with the card and you'll get your $ off the authentication. If it doesn't pass as least it's cheaper than sending it in and you don't pay shipping.... good luck.
  • Maddux has horrible handwriting so it's no surprise PSA didn't like it. That is actually a really clean Maddux sig. Maybe that is the problem, PSA thought it was too clean.

I dunno... if it's for your personal collection , I wouldn't worry about it... I'd guess that quite a few of my in person autos wouldn't pass. I would think a good forger signing a players 'sit down' signature could pass a LOT more off than the actual in person signatures of said athlete. I really don't place much stock in autograph authentication as a whole.

After my novel becomes a bestseller I will make an effort to sign all of my signatures (the few I do sign) clean and precise.

send it to JSA - that's were my Steve Young card has been sent... Just like cards I guess PSA/DNA gets them wrong sometimes image

I'm starting to agree with Ahmanfan, I'm not sure what PSA/DNA's batting average is for authenticating autos but I'm sure it's not 100%. I just like to display my auto's in PSA slabs so that's my real motivation - I've only sold 1 card from my personal auto collection.

I think I might try JSA if PSA isn't willing to take a second look at it.
