Question on Japanese Puppet State China coins

ajaanajaan Posts: 17,610 ✭✭✭✭✭
I have a friend has two China-Japanese Puppet State/ Manchoukou coins. Both are dated 1944 and are 5 Fen. One is the small 5 and the other is the large 5. KM#A13 and grade in the Fine range.

How accurate is the Krause pricing on these coins? My understand is these coins don't come along for sale too often and I have the opportunity to buy them.

  • I'm not an expert on puppet state coins, but I think these coins are fairly available in higher grades (at a large premium to Krause in mint state). In F+, they should be at or under Krause values.

I have not had trouble getting Manchoukuo coins. They are readily available as far as I know. There are a few key dates but most are reasonably priced.
  • The 5 Fen aluminum coins dated 1944 are scarce especially in high grades.

The 1944 5 fen brown fiber and red fiber coins are very difficult to locate in problem free condition. Almost impossible to locate in uncirculated condition.
