When to list sets on ebay...

What is everyone's opinion on when to list high grade sets on ebay? What I mean is, do you wait until there aren't many of the same set listed, or do you list the set in direct competition with other sets of around the same grade?

I have a set listed now that doesn't often have more than one at any given time being auctioned. I noticed the other day when I started to list it that there were 2 others around the same grade or slightly lower (according to the description) being auctioned this week. I decided to go ahead and list mine too in direct competition because I always scan every card close up and give everyone an idea of exactly how good the set is. Of the other two, one has 3 pictures and the other has 1 picture, neither has close up scans of individual cards. To no surprise, mine is doing better and I believe will get a premium over the other two.

What are other sellers thoughts on this?

IMO, it is never good to compete with similar items as it will split the bidding pool. However, your set will do better if it has several hi-res scans. Which set are you selling?

  • corvette, what year set are you selling? Is it a very popular issue? The higher quality sets seem to do pretty well, especially if you provide a lot of photos, and not the tiny ones either lol.

I am never afraid of competition if I have an item...set, graded card or raw card...of high quality.

The marketplace always seems to take care of it for me.
