Perth Mint

Is the Perth Mint in Australia a nationally sanctioned institution such as the USMint here in the States?

The Perth Mint issues can and does issue Australian legal tender coinage but none of it is for circulation, it is entirely for the collector market. The actual mint itself is an offshoot of the company GoldCorp which is entirely owned by the Western Australian state government.

Thanks for your response. Do you think the 1 oz. Silver Koalas worth collecting or no?

Anything you enjoy is worth collecting. If you're asking if they are viewed as anything other than bullion? No, not really, not down here in Australia anyway. Can't speak for other countries.
