FSH: Washingtons, Roosies, Mercs -Toners -PCGS coins back/ other prices adjusted/ New Roosies - 3/14

A few years ago a local dealer went out of business and wholesaled his entire inventory to another dealer. Buried in the back of the vault for many years were a bunch of coins in flips that toned very nicely. The nicest toners were put together and I bought the entire bunch. A few of them are going into PCGS, the rest I am putting up here for sale, a few at a time. Keep checking back.

Paypal or check preferred. I pay shipping. Full return privilege if you don't like and not removed from 2x2.

Prices reduced on some coins as of 3/14/2010.

I missed just a few out of this little hoard, so hopefully this weekend they are going up, including another fantastic Roosie toner!

1945-S....$12

Did I say I think think coin is a 65!

imageimage

1947 - D .....$75 SOLD

OK Roosie toner fans, I was sandbaggin just a little here. Second nicest Roosie toner out of the bunch, maybe some of you would even like this better than the 1947 that went off to PCGS, see below. I know where the saturation control is on my photo program, and I didn't touch it. I shoot my pics raw, with very little adjustment. This coin didn't need any adjusting. It's a gorgeous A-box toner. A neat thing about this coin is you can really tell that its a natural album toned coin, the rims are almost black, neat look. A bit mushy strike on the reverse, but you'll hardly notice.

imageimage

1947 ..... $16

Pretty toning (no the fingerprints do not bother me). Full disclosure; this coin had some pvc on the back of it, so it just came out of acetone very nicely. The untoned areas on the reverse is where the pvc was, and is not wear. Somewhat dull luster, and I give this coin a 64.

imageimage

1948-S ..... $38

I wrote a grade of 66 on the flip when I first graded it. On second thought, I'm now giving it a 65 due mainly to one hairline in the hair. Coin is extremely frosty and lustrous. What you see on the cheek is the slighest of luster rub that doesn't show up nearly as much when in hand (a photo result of a frosty coin.) Coin looks nicer than the pic.

imageimage

1949 ..... $38

I call it a 65, even with the disturbance in the left field, and the tiny mark on the cheek.se that is about all there is.

imageimage

1952 ..... $55

I love this coin. It has class written all over the front of it, so easy to look at. I grade it a 66 even with some small disturbance on the cheek, others may disagree.

imageimage

1952 ..... $38

I graded this coin a 66 until I took it out of the flip and noticed the micrscopic wipe across the face that you have to tilt right just to see.
How about that reverse!!!

imageimage

1953 ..... $6. GONE out to Wheatguy!

I hope there is a YN out there looking through these coins. The first YN to PM me and tell me the name of the painting with Washington in it that is on the ceiling of the Rotunda in the U.S. Capitol, gets this coin for free.!

Congratualtions to YN wheatguy for knowing that the fresco painting is the Apotheosis of Washington by Constantino Brumidi! If you have read the Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, you'd know that the paininting depicts the deification of Washington, or his exaltation to the level of the devine.

YNs keep watching. Another giveaway will be coming!

imageimage

1954 ... $12

A few marks on the obverse, probably a 64.

imageimage

These are some of the coins headed off to PCGS, and they are back. The 1954 quarter is my favorite out of this whole bunch.

And because I still love the look of the coin I am going to keep it for now. I don't usually do this, but I might play the grading game and send it back in because it came back PCGS 66. The grade wasn't terribly unexpected, if PCGS only loved deeper toned coins a little bit more like I do...

imageimage

1947 - S ..... A beauftiful toner that came back PCGS 67, and a no brainer grade. Just a tick on the eagle breast, a lite scrape on the front left obv, and that's about it. Great color with a look on the front that is fun to look at..... $425

Aint she so cool! I think it is a 67, but PCGS doesn't usually like such all encompassing toning.

    Hi Ronyahski,
I was looking at this BST listing again and wondered if you received the 47-S quarter back yet, and/or if it was for sale. Very handsome coin.
