1956 Ted Williams Questions, UPDATE Williams Received w/Better Scans

I have a '56 Williams PSA 8 on the way from a big trade I made. I know that the back variations don't make a significant difference in the cards below #100 but what about the line color above the name? I've seen a blue one, green one, and the one I'm getting is a yellow line. It's a white back also. If anyone has any info. I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

    lol, thanks Jeff.

  • I don't follow the card in higher grade but I have not seen a premium in price for the various Williams line variations in the 4-6 grade.

I know that 184 Don Bessent and 187 Early Wynn have these same line color variations. There may be one or two others as well. I doubt the vast majority of collectors are even aware of these variations.

    That's a very nice card!

On the yellow line - I'm gonna check the one I have when I get home.

I was wondering about the yellow line? Is the name plate slightly misplaced? Like the plate that prints the name was out of register just a little? I don't know.

    Congratulations on your trade!

I believe there was a thread about this subject several years ago. Perhaps use search function and see if you can find it.
