Ok.. i know i'm almost 50 years old but...

I received this question to my ebay auction. I don't know, maybe my eyes are getting bad.. there is a large scan provided for the card i'm selling...right????

question sent to me:

Are the front white borders totally clean with no print dots, spots, stray marks, or other blemishes?

Are there any othe print flaws on the player's face, front lettering or background?

Can you send me a larger scan? Thanks Tom

Good Answer: Sorry, that is as big a scan as I can give you.

Better Answer: Get out your magnifying glass.

How about "buy the card and see for yourself"? Just a thought.

To be honest with you the scan is very nice however with many scans some obvious flaws do not show up on some scans.I do not know whether its my scanner setting or what .I have tried everything with little success.I do like pointing out the flaws on certain major cards instead I describe those cards as detailed as I can.

Sounds like someone is looking for a 9 in an 8 holder. He probably won't be happy unless it bumps. BBL would work for me.

I know the buyer; he's a good guy and a good customer. He's just really particular about print marks. It's true that sometimes flaws don't show up in scans--think hairline creases--and sometimes there are specks on the holder or scanner that look like they could be on the card. For this buyer I'd recommend answering the question as best you can.

A couple eBay bidders send me the same copy and paste question for any card that interests them. It is something along the lines of "Does this card have any creases? How are the corners any bends or creases? Are the edges chipped or white showing ANYWHERE? What is the centering? Are there any marks dots or white spots on the surface? Does card have bends? Any imperfections WHATSOEVER ?"

I don't think he is. He has bought cards from me that would not qualify for a higher grade because of the centering, but he still asked about marks. I don't know why, he's just really particular about marks.

So we block bidders for simply asking questions?

    Good for you.
  • He's just asking a question . I don't see anything wrong with it , After all he would be the one paying you for the card .

Its not so much against the buyer. Its the ebay/paypal hassle for sellers. Thousands of sellers have left ebay in the past couple of years.

A little sarcastic---but i like it.... I will be using it as i accept returns on PSA cards-- unlike SOME people.

My smartallic reply would be _buy the card and send it in to PSA with your questions beacuse "apparently" some of us that send cards in don't know our heads from our *ss anyways based on my last submissionimage
  • This has SNAD written all over it.
  • i wish sellers had scans as big as yours, you did a fine job.

He's VERY particular about the surface/print being clean. A year or so ago he asked the same questions on a '61 Topps FB PSA 9 that I had for sale, I told him that there were a few print marks that were hard to see and I sent him the largest scan I had. He ended up passing on the card, but was very nice about it. The questions are a bit cazy, but he seems like a nice guy.

Why not just send the buyer a higher resolution scan. Make no claims about print marks, borders, dots, corners, etc....

Just send a bigger scan and say "Hope this helps."

I absolutely agree. It's a PSA-8 and one should have a pretty good idea on what they are getting.

I think you should kick his ass
  • I agree with the crowd on sending a larger scan, I would rather have the buyer ask the question before buying the card. A picky buyer
is something all sellers have to put up with especially when it comes to high dollar cards. the picky buyer can also become one of your
best customers if handled correctly, which usually means more dollars in your pocket. Nice card.

The questions aren't out of line. Anybody look at the scan? What color would you describe the borders? Answer his questions honestly and he will either buy and keep or not bid at all.

That's a heck of a good size scan and pretty much what ya see is what ya gonna get.

What the heck - send the guy a 2400 pixel shot - ya never know - ya could have a good buyer for life?

I would send him a higher resolution scan if you can and describe any flaws on it the best you can and let him take it from there.
