Ebay listing question.

Hi,
I listed a $.99 7 day auction last night for a $75-100 card and have noticed that I put the wrong card number. Surprisingly the auction has been going on for only 16 hours and has 5 watchers, 5 bids and is up to 26.00 already!

My question:
In order for me to change the title I would have to relist the item, should I? Maybe just put a subtitle on something, I don't want to lose bids because of something stupid but then again if I relist the item I am sure that it won't get any bids until a few days left. Opinions would be nice. It is a 1977 Topps Mexican Bob Griese card PSA 8, I put 545 instead of 515. They are very hard to come by so I am not sure what to do.

Thanks in advance.
Jason

I would cancel the listing and relist the item w/o the error.

Your current bidders are very likely to jump back in.

wrong description in title gives the buyer an excuse to return if he/shee is feeling remorse.

    I'd do what storm said.

  • Agree with Storm, but I would also message your 5 bidders and explain the reason why you cancelled and re-listed.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

  • Jason, I did something similiar- listed a 1962 Mickey Mantle, but put 1963 in the title. Looked at the auction, the next morning and the card was over $200. Was told to put a message at the end of the auction listing, and notify all bidders. Can't remember who told me to do that, but it worked out fine. It seems this would be the easier way to amend your auction. Hope everything works out.

I don't think it is an issue. Most people don't search by card number unless they are looking for commons to complete sets. If you end the auction now you may lose the current bidders and watchers.

    Update:

I relisted an hour ago and it has 4 bids and is at 21.50. Thank you all.

I only cancel auctions if there is an error in the listing, so that's a legitimate reason. As someone else said before, the other bidders will jump in as long as you schedule the auction for a good night.
