I need some help - 1957 Duke Snider.

May I have some grading opinions from you guys?
The card is even cleaner looking in person.

    Kinda tilty.

If it's not trimmed, it should grade in the 7 range.

    It is nice looking.

Yep just a little tilt but not bad. I would say a psa 7 ...nice card.

    I'm gonna say 7.5. Dare I suggest 8?

Doug, nice card. I'd say an easy 7 with a good shot at an 8. I don't think the tilt is going to impact the grade. Tough to tell from the scan, but the upper right edges are the only thing that would concern me at all. Sweet card

OK guys .. thanks for your opinions. Here's the deal. The pic I put up did NOT do the card justice. I have to play around with my scanner to get really good pictures of high priced cards. In hand the card looks like it could "9".

That card was cropped. Here is what the card actually looks like:

JUST SO YOU KNOW ... THIS CARD IS NOT MINE ... IT IS A FRIENDS (Someone very well known in the unopened pack community)

SOOOOO ... Why the thread? I WANT TO BE PERFECTLY CLEAR THAT I WAS NOT AROUND FOR #2 AND 3 BELOW, BUT AM BASING IT ON WHAT MY FRIEND TOLD ME. I HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE IT IS NOT THE TRUTH.

    1. I just sent the card into PSA (cost about $75.00) to crossover. The result? Evidence of Trimming!

    2. This card came directly out of a cello pack and into a CS1.

    3. OK, maybe the pack was resealed? The pack was sitting in a PSA holder and ripped out.

    4. Any thoughts? I really thought this would make it into a "9" holder. If so, it could be a $4,000.00 card.

    THANKS GUYS!

For me, even after seeing the card in the original holder I still think it is an 8 at best...

Sometimes, a back that looks like the subject one is "EOT."

Trimmers concentrate on making the front look its best. In
doing so, they can give themselves away when the back is
    a little too oddly kapakahi.

    ........

I would prolly crack it and send it back to PSA raw.

BVG will very likely put it back in a slab, if PSA still does not like it.

"that card is not trimmed, but i dont think its better than an 8."

How can you say the card is not trimmed without looking at the actual card? The front's left and right edges have an odd run to them compared to the edges of the card in the PSA holder. On the back these are the top and bottom edges and the edges don't look normal. Could just be the scan or it could also be a rough cut was shaved off. If the picture was bigger it might be more obvious. Beckett just looked at the size, but PSA also looked at the cut. Items 2 and 3 are interchangeable with just found the card in the attic.

my gut reaction was a psa 8 lock.. with outside chance at a 9...

I would feel comfortable cracking it and subbing raw.. doesn't appear trimmed

KB ... First of all, I think I have a pretty good reputation on this board. Second, I feel bad for you if you can't trust your friends. I CAN and DO trust mine. Could he be telling me a lie? Of course, but he is a friend and I trust him until he gives me a reason not to!!!

It is a great card but the leap from BVG 8.5 to PSA 9 is a big one and is a daring risk on such a high end card. I personally would send it to SGC for review and see if they would upgrade it and then try PSA again (only f you do not want to crack it). It has worked for me a couple of times. It is a beautiful card and if you truly feel that it is an untrimmed 9 then crack it. Worst thing that can happen is it comes back EOT and you sub it again. Just my opinion.

If it was sent in as a crossover attempt it should still be in it's BVG holder so think long and hard before cracking it out and sending it raw.
