Does Ebay really cancel auctions w/high postage charges?

I am in the process of listing a bunch of OPC sets and large lots. Went to the post office with a couple of my my items to get a ballpark idea of what shipping rates would be. I live in Canda, so large sets were in the $15 range to the USA.

When I put in the prescribed postage charge on the ebay form (for example, $15 for a full set) a warning pops up that states something to the effect that my shipping charge is higher than most others for this type of item, and furthermore, they (ebay) have the right to cancel any auction listing that violates their policy.

I would hate to think I am going to waste my time listing these items because ebay will yank them. On the other hand, shipping from Canada to the USA is costly, and I am only charging what Canada Post is going to charge me.

Does/will ebay really cancel auctions that violate this policy?

Thanks in advance. Eyebone image

I have had the same message posted to me a few times, but they never cancelled the auction on me.

I have had that message pop up when I do a graded comic book. I think Ebay is out of touch with what the actual cost of shipping a graded comic is.....

I don't think Ebay will cancel your auction unless someone actually complains about your shipping costs. On the "report item" link that any consumer can use (whether or not they actually bid on your item), that takes you to a drop down box menu where you choose what you're complaining about. There is an option in this menu to report excess shipping charges. I agree its a silly rule- It should be obvious enough that bidders can see your s/h charges posted and choose not to bid. That being said, we all know that Ebay is biased toward protecting buyers, not sellers.

They just do that to warn you. I had a very rare U.S. Large Cent from 1793 (a Chain if anyone is familiar with that) that sold for $3,405.00, and I charged $24.95 for registered, insured shipping. It came out to be about $0.50 off of that.
