Calling Storm...ebay/paypal question and advice...UPDATE...buyer responded and I have another questi

Thank you in advance to all who may respond...

I purchased a card off ebay recently and paid via paypal balance. Received the card and the case appears to have been tampered with as the two halves do not fit snugly back together and the card is at least one lower grade than on the flip. This is a $400 card. I have contacted the seller but he does not respond. He has a 7 day return policy.

Question is...what is my next step? Should I go through the NEW ebay protection system and let them handle it or skip that and go straight to Paypal and open a SNAD dispute??

Use PP and open a SNAD dispute.

Go straight to the PayPal console and file a SNAD.

You will have to pay for return shipping.

Don't ship until PP instructs you to do so.

Make sure to use USPS Signature-Confirmation on the return package.

Follow PP rules and you are good.

    Hi guys,

Follow up question...I just opened the Paypal dispute and the buyer responded within the hour.

He says no need to open up the dispute, just send the card back and he will refund.

Should I continue with the PP dispute or am I safe sending the card back to the buyer and cancelling the dispute??

How should I proceed so that I am protected??

    Thanks Again

DEFINITELY keep the case open, I was recently talked into closing a dispute in similar circumstance and when I did the guy screwed me because he knew after I closed it he was off the hook...

I would want him to refund my money first before I sent it out. Otherwise keep the PP claim open.

I would stop talking with the seller and continue on storm's advice. btw signature confirmation is very important with this particular transaction.

I agree to go through paypal. He ignored you, so now I would ignore him and continue through paypal.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

  • Good thing he agree to a refund. Its hard to win a paypal snad case on a psa graded card.

Karb is right, if he refunds your money immediately, then close the case, but to close the case and then send the card back....you are not protected as much.

In an ideal world, it would be nice to settle it without PAYPAL, but Vlad already mentioned he got burned that way once.

Only one time in my life, I had to give a seller a Neg because he did not respond when I saw the item was not as described and emailed him about it. He rectified it upon seeing the negative. After he made things right, I proceeded to remove the Neg. He needs to make the first vulnerable move, you already did your part.

Jeff - I might suggest you send it restricted delivery as well as signature confirmation if you think the guy might try to pull a fast one on you. It costs an extra $4 or $5 or so, but the mail carrier is supposed to ID him and make sure it's him.

Eliminates him saying the mailman had somebody else sign for it. The guy already sounds dishonest if he sold you a cracked out slab and then tried to scam you into dropping your claim.

Write "please ID recipient" on the package and the clerk at USPS will stamp "restricted delivery" all over it. I would also insure it for the $400 or so just in case.
