To send or buy?

I have been a sports card collector for some time. A couple of years ago I signed up to get my cards graded at PSA. Most of my cards came back 8's and 9's, but a handful came back either trimmed or miscut. Now the question is do I gamble and buy a card and hope that it does not come back where it can not be graded or just buy a card already graded. I am not talking about a newer card or an inexpensive one.

If you're talking about older, vintage stuff, or even modern high dollar stuff (Jordan, Montana RCs etc), I think most of the best examples of these cards have long been subbed and graded

every now and then, you might find a legit, raw card that's in nice shape, but you'll usually pay a hefty premium

    just my opinion

I have at times resubbed cards that came back MC (they always graded the 2nd time)

and trimmed (one time only) I'd try that ( I assume you are talking about cards that are not MC in the traditional sense)

    Resub the cards.

If that fails, buy some that are already graded.

  • If you want cards in certain grades, buy a card in that grade that looks appealing to you.

Before resubbing the cards post high quality pictures for people to look at.
Based on the opinions you get either resub the cards or don't bother spending the money.
If you have to replace the cards depending on what they are they may be cheaper and less risky to buy in the holders already.

I did not mean should I resub the cards. I was just curious if in the future should I just buy graded cards or take a risk and buy a raw card and then send it in.

If you purchased your membership to PSA a "couple of years ago" then it is probably expired. Buy the cards already graded IMO, you will have to buy a new membership and unless you are sending in dozens of cards or high-end material it might not be worth it. Just an opinion.
