2009 Topps Update No Name on front Question

Is anyone familiar with these? Are they actually errors or were they a gimmick retail product? Here's a link to see what I am asking about.

didn't Topps recently produce some cards with either the player's name or the team name upside down as a gimmick?

I think they just missed the silver foil at the bottom.

I got a couple of these out of a pack.

The imprint is there, but the foil isn't.

In 2008 in the Update set there were 3 or 4 upside down variations.

With the missing foil being the case I wonder if it is contained to certain sheets or if this happened to all 330 cards?

it's a printing error (the foil wasn't printed on the card), a far cry from a 1990 Frank Thomas NNOF error, this type of thing happens every year, cool for a guy you collect but not terribly valuable, if you like O'Sullivan the sellers price is reasonable...

No particular interest in the player, just curious as I like to complete my sets with the errors and variations.

I got a lot of those last year stony - pack fulls at a time. it's just missing the foil

even got some where half the foil was there

I have a buddy who pulled a A Rod with no name this year in the 2010 Topps. But we really don't know much more than that.
