The centered one with the rough cut is a fake.

The one on the left is real. Look at the image of the guy next to Roy's face. One is clear, one isn't.

    thrill and artist are right.

look at Roy's face, counterfeits have more red in his face.

the left is real.. grainy picture and loss of detail in the fine print on reverse

i detect an obvious difference in the word O-Pee-Chee and the black oval surrounding it...the fake does not show the clean definition of precise black lines.

    very grainy too
  • I agree with the observations of those posted above. The right one appears fake... albeit a pretty good fake til you get it in hand.

That's what I saw. They said for counterfeit USFL football cards, the copyright logos would be fuzzy and I see that on the front and back with this one. The info on the reverse is really fuzzy on the one to the right at the bottom while the one to the right is clear. Looks like a second generation copy.

That is correct. The O-Pee-Chee logo on fakes is more granulated.

Left is real. I can see the black lines better.
    Appears more solid.
  • Ok, I can see it better now. The rough cut on the fake makes it seem legit, but the printing is what give it away. To many dots to the text and borders on the front and back. Also, the hardest thing to counterfeit is the copyright symbol. The one on the right is barely legible. The left is legit, the right is fake.
  • I think the one on the right is, picked up this info from a website:

One of the trickiest counterfeits to spot, the Roy RC still has traits that the other counterfeit cards have. Look closely at the O-Pee-Chee logo in the top left corner, if you notice that the black lines in the oval and the text are dotted, you probably have a reprint. One other area of flaw, but not as reliable is the “Patrick Roy” on the front of the card. On all of the reprints the blue and white bleed together. Be careful though, because of poor printing equipment in the earlier years, some of the authentic Roy cards also have a bit of colour overlap, but with a different consistency
