What should I do? Need your opinions

I have an '05 UD Sweet Spot Classic Leather Sigs of Jim Rice that I got when it first came out #d 14/25. When I got it the signature was perfect, but as time elapsed the sig started to gradually bleed/soak into the leather swatch . It appears to have been signed with possibly a felt tip instead of a sharpie. As of today you can still barely see the outline of Jim's sig. but it has pretty much vanished altoghether. My question to you is should I leave it as is, or should I see if I can get Rice to re-sign it with a sharpie at one of his appearances? I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the matter. Also, I'll try to get a scan of the card up later this afternoon for reference. Thanks in advance.

This is why I dont collect that sweet spot product. Had to know these sigs would fade. Same with sticker autos. In time, that glue will dry out and depending on conditions, those stickers will fall off making all those high dollar cards WORTHLESS. Bad money spent. Sorry to hear this happened to you. Let it be a lesson learned!

Jim Rice probably charges more to sign than the card would be worth.

I don't have a lot invested in it. I actually got it for a real good price. The fact that it's #14(his jersey #)/25 is the only reason I picked it up. Normally I would have passed on this card. Here's what it looks like now anyways.

Since he is a Red Sox player and obviously bought his way to the hall of fame I would junk the card. haha just joking. I would get it resigned. DO you have any other Rice autographs??

Agreed -- you'll do better with UD than any other way.

I've always had good luck with Topps customer service and would say UD wants to do the right thing - I would contact them - hopefully, they have something similar to give you that doesn't involve this kind of thing.

    Good luck

  • Good luck getting UD to replace it.

Virtually every card from the past SS sets in baseball are faded.

They used cheap "leather" and now the collectors who purchased them are paying for it.

That is horrible. I was contimplating buying a few of those boxes at a local card store. After I declined the owner opened two of them himself and pulled a B.Robinson auto that looked identical to the Rice. Sweet Spot is an inferior product.
