Another collection buy - Need some help!

I just picked up a neat collection, and need to know if PSA will grade the '56 pin and '52 Star decals as unopened? I've included some scans

Look at all those counterfeits. Might as well send them to me for proper disposal in my wood stove.

    Just kidding. Very nice stuff.

I was tempted to bust one of them. Is there anyway to tell if the packs were issued before or after the "Ted Signs" card was pulled from production?

FYI, looks like PSA will slab the '52 decals, but does anyone know with the '56 pin?

  • *DO NOT OPEN THE STAR DECALS PLEASE*

I'm blown away by this find. Very nice.
  • Yeah, keep those Star Decals sealed(sure you would have anyway). It's unopened and you still know who is in the pack, very nice. As for the rest, this has to be the nicest Ted Williams collection I've ever seen. Thank you for sharing and definitely share the story!
  • Wow! Just amazing!

Thanks for all the compliments! The collection came from a gentleman that was obviously a Ted Williams enthusiast. It was a fairly large collection, and it contained complete sets from '41 (playball),'54, '55, '56, '57, '58 and '65. I typically don't buy a lot of autographs, but the collection also contained several autos and a few signed Ted Williams bats. One neat set was the complete Perez Steele set, that had about 90% of the possible autos completed. It hasn't been one of my collecting focuses, but I may try and complete the Perez Steele set.

Kurt, you come across nice size collections fairly regularly. Do you have a shop? Do you advertise? Just word of mouth?
  • Hey Kurt -

Got any Ted Williams stuff ?

    Just checking ...

That is one awesome "Splinter" scoops ... if I still collected baseball - THAT is what I would collect. Love the pin ...

Is that first orange '54 (not sure which number it is) on the left as amazing as it looks?
  • SDSportsFanSDSportsFan Posts: 5,179 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just looked on ebay, and there are 2 PSA graded Star Cal decals listed. According to the seller, PSA will slab the unopened decals, but will not assign a numerical grade; e.g....they're slabbed as "authentic".

    Very nice stuff Kurt!

The Williams collectors should be happy to have a chance to bid on some of these items.

I'll try and post some scans of some of the autos this weekend. According to the owner, he got several of the autos personally, but I'm terrible at spotting authentic vs. fake autos, so forgive me if I post any forgeries.
