Question for all TTM participants...

Recently I sent three cards to one player to sign and I would like their signature on each of the cards as they are all different and are a part of a set. The player mailed back one card signed and the other two unsigned. How have you dealt with this? Should I sent the other two cards to the player along with a check? If so, how much do you feel is appropriate for a HOF hockey player (Peter Stastny) to sign both cards? I don't want to send too much and don't want to insult him at the same time.

Thanks in advance,

Patrick

  • Personally I would send them back. I would include a letter thanking him for his initial generosity and go on to say why it is that you included three cards. The worst he can say is no.

If you're requesting more than one thing I would include $5 per signature. In the letter, ask him if he requires more.
  • from the looks of it on sportscollectors.net he only signs one card per person

Thanks guys, I should have added that in my initial attempt I included a short letter (paragraph) explaining why I am collecting the entire set signed and that I am happy to send payment for signatures if they require a fee...Mark Howe requested $10 and everyone else, so far, signed free. Stastny signed the one card, leaving the other two unsigned, and without a note or anything I'm a little stumped on what it is exactly he wants for the other two.

I would send a small donation, but if you don't want to do that, see if you can get a couple friends to send them for you.

Another good idea, although I'm afraid he would catch on as they are the 1981 O-Pee-Chee stickers...and I'm sure he hasn't seen many of these come his way...
