My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

For #10k, I was going to type out a really long post, discussing my time here (good and bad), the thank yous and all of that. Sorta like the complete opposite of a "I'm quitting the boards" thread. Just seems so melodramatic to commemorate a number, ya know.

So I'm going to do it with post # 10,001

    image

But seriously, I do want to take a moment and say something to the low post count members. Just so y'all know, I've been accused of being an alt, a scammer, a scammer's alt, and even a PSA employee (true story). I've been through the ringer just like you. Rather than throwing a hissy fit, I proved myself. Things don't happen overnight but over time, the established members knew they could trust me. It's not like you have to agree with everything they say or kiss their rears.. I can still butt heads with the best of them, but it's done with a mutual respect; which needs to be EARNED and not demanded.

Sorta like going into a new bar and not knowing anyone. You don't jump right in and act like you own the place. Being an arrogant drunk, expecting to take home the pick of the litter, maliciously missing the toilet and getting your stuff all over the floor, and just an overall ahole... If you want it to become an enjoyable place where everyone knows your name; scope it out, get a feel for the place, introduce yourself, and act respectful to fellow guests. After several visits, the bar will actually not be the same without you and one day, someone else new will come in. Lather, rinse, repeat.

    And that's that.

It's hard enough just to take pictures, much less type a post.

    Like maybe 2 or 3.

Good words Barry - one of the best posts of the new year!

I totally agree with one important point: "trust and respect are earned here" - the kind that everyone aspires to receive.

    Thanx
